My husband and I had a fabulous lunch after church today. This was our second experience with a meat and three restaurant. We loved the huge portion of meatloaf, crispy chicken, fried okra, yummy creamed corn, green beans and finally some glazed carrots in the state. We had no room for desserts. Very reasonable.

Best fried chicken, hands down! If you're looking for a traditional southern meal, look no further, this is it. Fried chicken, meatloaf, baked chicken, okra, white beans, turnip greens, banana pudding, cobblers and more. Overall, friendly staff, exceptional food and it's very clean and reasonably priced.

Do you know about our Friday and Saturday night event? It is called STEAK Night at the Cool Cafe. It is a "sit down dinner" and we serve steak, chicken and fish. Also on the menu are burgers, appetizers, and desserts. We have a great children's menu too. We serve from 4pm to 9pm every Friday and Saturday night. Come enjoy STEAK Night soon!

The greater Nashville area is fond of the "meat and three"--locally owned places that offer a varied menu cooked southern style, and typically offer up some combination, depending on the day of the week, of deviled eggs, mayo based salads, three bean salad, pickled beets, green beans and greens that are long simmered and require the involvement of a pig, cornbread or a biscuit, locally baked desserts, vinegar bottles with a pepper dropped in, hot sauces, and urns full of sweet and unsweet tea. It is a place to socialize and satisfy. Cool Café fills the bill. The food can be a bit salty at times, and the main courses (fried or baked chicken, catfish, meatloaf, etc.) may be just average, but you won't leave hungry and you will see someone you know or will have talked to someone in the serving line. It's all good in it's own way. Stop on by.

This place is outstanding! Great food, great people and a relaxed atmosphere. Sometimes in the evening it's hard to tell whether or not it's open as they lower the shades to block the evening sun, but it's open until 8p so come on in.

I've become a regular and my staple is the Extra Hot Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, then I change up the 2nd veggie but broccoli salad is excellent and usually wins out for me. Oh and no matter how full you think you will be as you look at the plate they make for you, you must get the banana pudding. Trust me I'm not a banana pudding fan, but this stuff is unreal. Gotta get it!

Whether you're a regular or a first timer come on in and enjoy Franklin's best meat & three!

My first visit here. My wife suggested we dine here after church this morning. Looks can be deceiving. This place is tucked away in a small neighborhood-type strip center just off Highway 431/Hillsborough Road and Mack Hatcher Bypass in Franklin near the Williamson County Recreation Center.

Back to the looks department -- simple, casual with pub like vibe. Posters of 70's Rockers adorn the walls -- which gives you an instant recall of the music piped through ceiling speakers.

This place was packed with people loading up on down home country-style cooking -- just like momma used to serve on Sundays after church. The meat-and-three (or four) counter servers move the hungry patrons on through quickly but not rudely. The portions are ample if not overflowing. I had the crispy fried chicken with corn, potato salad and fried okra. The homemade peach cobbler looked too good to pass up -- and I wasn't disappointed.

Like I said -- looks can be deceiving -- nothing fancy about the place except the tastes.

Looks like we found another Franklin favorite.

Hello Steve D! So glad your wife suggested Cool Cafe. We love happy customers and it sounds like you are one! Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We would like to know what we could do to improve for your next review to be a "5"? You are correct, we do have a 70's sort of style. Our owner and chief chef grew up in the 70's and loves the music! Many of our recipes come from parents and grandparents from that era. And all of our food is prepared fresh for each of the daily servings. Come back on a Friday or Saturday night for a feast called STEAK Night. We serve the finest beef, chicken, and fish. Even our decor changes to match. Still casual just jazzed up for the weekend! Hope to see you there!
