Description: The Island's ONLY Genuine Jersey restaurant member, for our fresh homemade specialities that use local ingredients. La Cantina have taken their family’s traditional Italian recipes, culinary ethos, and cooking techniques, and then added the finest local ingredients to recreate an authentic Italian experience. It’s food "just like Mamma used to make", with a fresh, modern twist, served without any fuss in a relaxed, vibrant environment.Everything is prepared from scratch, using top quality imported produce and local seasonal produce. The homemade pasta is fresh every day, and their pizza dough is made the traditional way, to a centuries-old Italian recipe using a ‘lievito madre’ natural yeast culture and fired in a stone oven for pizzas that taste as authentically Neapolitan as they come. Using the best of what Jersey has to offer they also make a range of delicacies including, homemade Italian style sausages using locally grown pork and seasonal foraged offerings, such as ‘gnocchi all'ortica’ stinging nettle gnocchi and local scallops with wild garlic.Along with the restaurant’s extensive menu, the blackboard specials feature whatever’s in season, from locally caught seafood to Jersey raised meats, foraged herbs and exclusive Italian finds that they import weekly into the Island. It’s real rustic Italian cooking using the best local ingredients. And while La Cantina keeps things ‘old school’ in the kitchen, the restaurant is bringing Italian food right up to date with a fresh whole-wheat version of their pastas and pizzas, and a menu that allows the guest to customize their meal. There’s a 100% Italian, price-banded, wine list that features exclusive wines that they import directly from the vineyard, and a large selection of wines by the glass. It’s a real taste of Italy, right here in Jersey with a bustling, Italian atmosphere where everyone instantly feels at home. You can also enjoy the La Cantina experience at home as you can take-away their entire menu.

Jersey and Guernsey have a food festival (many restaurants and hotels serving specific menus for £10 - £20). The menus are pre advised and can be 2,3 or 4 courses. Tennafest is normally from 1st October to about the 10th November with some continuing to the end of November but calling it Winterfest of something like this.

Tennerfest is well worth coming to Jersey or Guernsey to try normally excellent menus at low prices.

La Cantina provided excellent food. There were 3 of us and we had as starters Palma Ham and Melon, the ham was of excellent quality and an aubergine dish with cheese sauce again excellent. We followed this with liver and bacon which had sliced potatoes lightly fried and onion strings. Plenty. My wife had risotto which she thoroughly enjoyed. We had a very good lemon tart, tiramasso and panna cotta for desert. The others had 500 mililitres of rose wine which they said was very good. We had one portion of their pizza style garlic bread with cheese and tomato which was again excellent.

We will go back there again for their normal menu.

The staff said that sometime after tennerfest the place will shut for about a month for refurbishment of the building. This is to include some attention to the sound which with glass, wooden floors and hard surface walls reflects.

We didn't actually eat here but picked some food up to take away. Really good spaghetti alle vongole and with properly cooked pasta. We asked if we could half/half a pizza and they said fine and charged us correct half price for each when I expected them to charge for the higher costing pizza. The Bresaola (my half) was really good, packed with flavour and very well cooked. I thought it was very good.

We booked this restaurant for a 'big' family birthday and it didn't disappoint. For starters we had bread, oil and balsamic vinegar, garlic bread and Reginette con Salsiccia (sausage pasta), all of which were lovely.
For mains we had 2 pasta dishes, a risotto and a pizza. The portions are large and, sadly, most of us couldn't finish the dishes but they were beautifully presented and were very tasty.
No room for pudding (!) so I can't comment on that but the espresso coffee was divine.
The staff were all very knowledgeable about the dishes and the service was excellent.

Ate here due to previous reviews and had a pleasant supper with my young son.

Service was on the slow side, but it was a busy Friday and I was in no hurry so was fine.

Service polite and friendly.

Not extensive vegetarian choice, and specials were meat and fish. But what was served was hot, tasty and satisfying. I like that children can have anything for half portion, half the price - what a simple approach.

Pappardelle was delicious and beautifully cooked, nice flavour and hot. Pizza was lovely, dough perfect and cooked nicely.

Small choice of desserts. Most wines served by bottle a few by the glass. Would recommend for couples, groups and families.

recently had a takeaway which is one of the worst I've ever had in Jersey, cold, delivered late and very expensive. Also ate in the restaurant once with the family and kids which was not good, if your wanting Italian stick with Little Italy around the corner
