“Clean, modern and efficient but not much character”
Reviewed 10 February 2012

The Radisson in Jersey is in a perfect location next to the Marina in St. Helier and just a 5 minute walk from the town centre. You get what you would expect from a Radisson; clean and modern with a slight Scandinavian design; efficient rather than luxury. The main lobby contains a bar and a restaurant and a very large fish tank. With large windows the view towards the Marina is nice although the lobby lacks any character and reminded me of an airport lounge. There is also a rather small and odd gym and indoor pool; think 1970's local council run public swimming pool rather than Espaa or Willow Stream and you will not be disappointed.
The food quality in the restaurant was surprisingly good.
Not a bad choice but don't expect luxury.

Hi, thank you for your review! The design of the hotel is in keeping with the style of other Radisson Blu hotels world wide, hence the Scandinavian influence. We’re glad you enjoyed eating here and found your stay with us over all positive. We hope to welcome you back in the future if you chose to visit Jersey again.

Stop 2 night on business.

New hotel has comfatable rooms with all the extras you need. Beds are very soft- which I like. Free wi-fi through out the hotel is nice. Free Sky sports in your room is also nice.

The rooms either face out to sea or over look the town. Mine overlooked the town, next time I ask for a sea view.

The location at the end of the haubour is good, with a short walk in the town. I would assume in the summer is a very nice place to be with its views over the boats, castle and out to sea, plus the beach near by. Unfourtuatly in January we could not enjoy this aspect of the hotel.

Had a drink in the bar which was nice and there was plently of food on offer a breakfast time. With a cinerma next door plus some fast food chains its in a good spot if you are on your own and want to kill sometime.

Also nice and quiet at night, did not hear the plumbing etc, which you do in most hotels

Only real moan is that it would be nice to have a pot of tea with your breakfast as oppossed to having to pour hot water into a cup and dunk a tea bag

Overall good value, location and pratical for a business trip. However would also be good for a weekend away

Room Tip: Ask for Seas view

This has all the appearances of a business hotel with no soul.
If you do not have a veiw over the waterfront ,you have a pretty bleak outlook.
We had a room with waterfront outlook which was very pleasant.
Some days the room was cleaned well and others not--depending on which chambermaid you had.
Staff showed willing but not always efficient on concierge.
We stayed over Xmas and position of hotel was ideal for shops etc.

Room Tip: make sure you have a waterfront room

Myself & my partner stayed at this hotel & celebrated our anniversary during our stay, I emailed the hotel & asked for flowers & chocolates to be in our room for our arrival which they organised exactly as I asked,

All the staff were wonderfully friendly, nothing seemed too much trouble & we were always greated with a smile which made for a happy place to stay,

The staff on reception were very helpful as were the bar & waiting staff, our complements to the chief who's food was delicious & the breakfasts were by far the best we have had in a very long time!

The surrounding areas of the hotel are great with beaches & shopping not far away & the scenery is lovely,

All in all a fantastic relaxing short break!!

I stayed there for three nights 23rd to 25th January and it was fairly quiet, it meant no queues at the bar or restaurant.

The hotel is in a modern development, and stands out being right beside a marina. There's an outside seating area which would be very nice between spring and autumn! There are rooms overlooking the car park as well as rooms with a sea view.

The rooms are quite spacious (but at an off-peak price of £99 per night they should be!) with high ceilings, with plenty of room to accomodate a chair and a desk. The rooms are somewhat stylish, but still easy on the eye, so neither bland nor garish.

The bed was a little on the soft side, but pretty comfortable with large soft pillows. The lighting was well thought out, so that all the room lights could be turned on and off from the bedside. The blackout curtains made it very easy to sleep no matter the light outside.

Wireless internet worked well, just needed to enter room number and surname. There was a wired network socket near the desk, also offering power. There was a phone on the bedside table as well as the desk.

The room came with a hair dryer, trouser press, electronic safe and the usual kettle. With the kettle were tea (breakfast, earl grey and mint), coffee (caff and decaff) and a few biscuits, not as generous in the biscuit provisioning as some places I've stayed.

There was a flat panel TV, which was surprisingly small for the size of the room, and whilst there was a good selection of channels including a variety of radio stations (streamed off the internet somehow), the picture quality was a bit disappointing, possibly because the "tuner" box on the back was connected through analogue scart, missing out on the digital HDMI port.

The bathroom was reasonable spacious too, not at all cramped like many hotels. Fittings were high quality and everything spotlessly clean.

I don't know what the parking would be like there as I didn't have a car, it'd definitely be worth checking.

I don't know whether it was because I was visiting in winter, but there were no taxis waiting outside the hotel around 9am, and the first two taxi companies I called were quite busy and I had to wait 25 minutes for one to come, so it's definitely worth booking your taxi before breakfast, or at least before checking out!

Unfortunately, with long working days I didn't get a chance to test the swimming pool or other facilities, but the brief look I had suggested they would be very nice, with changing facilities etc.

The breakfasts were very good, a buffet offering a range of fruit juices, pastries, cereals as well as cooked food (potatoes, tomatoes, bacon, scrambled egg, sausages, mushrooms..).

I had dinner there both nights, my budget only really covered cheaper items (cheapest item being about £13), but portions were fair and quality good, food was served nice and hot. The menu is posted on their website. There was a good choice of wine, prices being consistent with this standard of hotel/restaurant.

Overall, then, for the location and facilities I thought it reasonable value; maybe a little bit overpriced for very low season.
