Description: The Bass & Lobster Foodhouse prides itself on two things... local food and service. Established in 2009, this popular local restaurant has been recognised throughout the island for providing fresh local produce. There is a guarantee that the title dishes, bass and lobster, are served daily and the chef has local hidden treasures ready for your latest dining experience. Hand-selected King scallops caught by their local scallop diver off Jersey's reefs. Seafood served just hours after leaving the seabed that puts a real emphasis on the restaurant's fresh appeal and quality. Located along a snug stretch of Gorey coastline, with a terrace for summer wine, the restaurant offers comfortable open-plan dining. The mood is set with a dedicated team committed to serving delightful dishes with flavour and style.

The exceptional and interesting food that we find on each visit makes the Bass & Lobster one of our favourite restaurants. Friendly staff and sensible prices complete a very enjoyable package. Highly recommended.

Great 2 course menu of fresh local food, can't recommend this restaurant enough.

Make sure you call / email ahead as the restaurant soon fills up. We struggled to find a parking space in the restaurant's car park, however there is free parking (after 6pm) within a 2 minute walk.

Really enjoyed the food and ambience.

Selected off the set menu (actually had a Quids In voucher which they do for Jan - Mar) and had plenty of choice. The “Catch of the Day” fish & chips is enormous but recommend. Very pleasant service, wines reasonably priced and they offer homemade ice cream. We will be eating there again very soon.

As we only live about a mile away, we consider this a local restaurant and so getting a Quids In voucher to eat there over March, we decided to go for a midweek dinner,

The seating was comfortable, the decor was nice and the two staff serving were always courteous and attentive. With regards to the food, the Quids In menu was certainly not an inferior one and our starters (fish cake/ falafel) and main course (tagliatelle/ bream) were well cooked, tasty and ample portions. If you like experimenting with flavours, ask them for their selection of ice creams and sorbets. I had the wasabi sorbet- a great creation but a step too far for me personally.

The only black mark on an otherwise lovely evening were our coffee liqueurs. Mine had a very acrid taste which totally overpowered rather than complimented the calvados and I think my wife had a similar experience. We didn’t bring it to the waitress’ attention but maybe a milder tasting coffee should be used when doing these liqueur mixtures in future.

Just had a lovely meal with four friends. Only had two courses each from the set menu, but all was very nice indeed. Slight difference in portion sizes but that is a minor point.
On a personal note, creme anglais is custard and therefore should only be served hot!
We should go here more often.
