Walked all around the harbour and visited many of the shops that are around. Varied shops from gift shops, clothes housewares. A really nice town, pretty to look at and great to look at all the boats.

No visit to Brixham is complete without a walk around the harbour, there is always something going on there.
On our recent visit covid restrictions meant many pubs and cafes without outside seating were still closed, but we sgil enjoyed our wander around.

Very pretty harbour. Good for crabbing. Loads of places for food and drink dotted around. Head towards the breakwater for the best sunsets.

Brixham”s inner harbour is attractive with a lot of history and adjacent outside are the current large commercial fishing infrastructure as well as a biggish leisure marina packed full (during lockdown3) with a lot of sailing and motor craft. The old harbour has a number of important memorials and other markers of a proud busy and sometimes dangerous and tragic fishing industry. But the heart seems to have begun to go out of the determination ambition and expectations of those for whom fish and sea food are their livelihood. No one disputes that the Brexit settlement they campaigned for has not yet and may not produce any benefits and potentially serious losses. Fishermen we found on the quay, debating while working on their boats and tackle vehemently expressed to us their worries that exports are few and the British domestic demand for fish will not compensate. They and we hope that all will improve. No one wants Brixham to change from being one of Britain’s busiest fishing hubs to a museum.
