Took granny out for lunch for Christmas and was very nice. Pub is lovely and staff were very friendly. Food was good, better than normal pub food but menu is limited. Had halloumi with chilli jelly which was delicious but beef in black bean sauce was disappointing as not particularly tasty.

A quaint country inn with lots of little nooks and crannies. Friendly staff and good food. Very cosy and set in such lovely surroundings in Lydford Village

I’m here right now, having just finished my meal. I’ve had two pints of perfect “Proper Job” beer and a steak, ale and Devon blue pie dinner. I have to say that there is nothing about this pub I don’t like (this is my third visit this week). The staff are friendly and professional, the beer is well kept and my meal was perfect.

This is a proper pub, with plenty of locals and I’m not surprised that some reviewers have had problems getting a table. If pubs like the Castle Inn go out of business, I’m emigrating.

Enjoyed dinner there on one night and would go again. Good food at sensible prices. Great local beers and easy to find

Stopped here for lunch with my Wife whilst passing-through on the nearby trunk road.

The pub has ample off-road parking. The building appears to be very old and retains many authentic features inside and out. Inside, the decor is very traditional with a wonderful stone floor and lots of interesting items to look at.

Service was cheerful and friendly. The lunch menu was interesting and varied with a mix of hot and cold dishes, both light and more substantial too.

We went for good ol' Ploughman, and what a delight it was: crispy apple, proper cheese, chunky fresh bread, lashings of butter, pickles, chutney and a lovely mixed salad. It may sound just like a normal Ploughman's, but these days, so many get it so wrong! This was marvellous!

St. Austell ales on hand pump (Proper Job was in fine fettle). What more could one ask for?

Well done!

Would recommend and would go back.
