We came across the river by the tiny ferry boat from Greenway having been recommended to visit the cafe by my sister in law. It was busy and the waiter said he was sorry but he only had a table in the sunshine left (it was a hot day). It turned out to be a table right on the balcony with fabulous views so he really had no need at all to apologise! Service was quick and we chose haddock and fries between us. This promptly arrived and was delicious. A very large piece of beautiful fish, light crispy batter and even crispier fries, plus an outstanding home made tartar sauce. All washed down with a very nice glass of wine and local cider. The only reason we've not scored it 5 is that it is a tad expensive, but it is a lovely place to eat. Well worth a visit.

I have been visiting the Anchorstone for many years and I have never had a bad meal there. The quality of the food is first class and Will and the team always make it an enjoyable experience. The setting is stunning as well. My last trip I shared the spider crab legs and the mussels and chips, delicious! Followed by two spectacular deserts and a lie down on the village green! Its a must for any foodie visiting the area.

We went at lunchtime and were pleased to find a table inside and ordered drinks. We were then told by a different waitress that there was a queue and we had to vacate the table to be added to the waiting list. We got a seat on the balcony instead 10 minutes later (and passed the still unoccupied table we had been told to vacate).

We ordered a burger and the ploughmans. While the place was busy we had to wait over 45 minutes for our food. The ploughmans was huge but oddly enough without cheese (but with two pâtés, pork pie and quiche it didn't really need it). Oddly though it only came with two bits of bread.

When we asked to pay we were again sent to the main bar and had another 15 minute wait there.

It deserves to do well and the staff are very pleasant but there are too many minor annoyances that it would be well to address.

Checked on their website, which says they were open on 26 June but when we got there, we were greeted with a CLOSED sign.

Never been to Dittisham before, so we were delighted to find such a lovely lunch venue, and only booked as we arrived at the Quay

Marvellous views from our table on the balcony.

Excellent menu, we had Lobster Salad and Pavlova to follow.

Service very friendly and attentive.

Walked it off with a walk uphill through the village.

Loved it all.
