Called in previous day and was able to book a specific table (one of our party has mobility issues). Lovely service from Jade and ‘the new chap’. Promising.

Arrived, realised no table service. Ordered drinks only to find (15 minutes later when he chaps had nearly finished their drinks) that they had no Prosecco. They found half a bottle (opened, obviously taken from bar fridge).

Starters arrived. Good actually but two of the three soups were stone cold. Whisked away and returned piping hot, 5 minutes after everyone else had finished.

Mains arrived. Again ok but nothing special.

Bill arrived (well, we went to the bar) and was incorrect - charged for full bottle of Prosecco. No suggestion that they were making any ‘soup’ adjustment. When challenged, the barman said he would consult the manager. I left them to chat and he returned with the ‘amended bill’ and left. Would have expected to meet the manager at that point - she made herself scarce and was obviously busy tutting at other staff. They had charged for the half bottle and cancelled two soups. Paid.

When asked what, with the exception of the soups, we thought of the evening, I told him. All of it - I did stress that everyone we had been served by was very pleasant and that it was obvious that the pub owner was absent, not their fault.

The ‘new chap’ was just as affable when we left and promised to raise ‘our issues’ with the owners. Can not imagine we the first to suffer - there were others who were less than impressed.

Such a shame - stunning pub, great beer, ideal location, pleasant staff.

Over-priced, especially considering lack of table service. Will not be returning.

A group of us stayed at the Scott Arms for a friend's wedding. It was perfect for the group of us as we were able to take all four rooms.

Each room was well set up and a good size. The biggest room in particular has its own sitting room which was particularly helpful getting ready for the wedding Beds were comfortable and we all got a good night's sleep.

There was a good variety of food at breakfast including a full English and it was great for everyone to be able to sit round one big table.

The views over Corfe Castle and the surrounding countryside were spectacular. Definitely the most picturesque beer garden I've been in

I'd thoroughly recommend the Scott Arms for anyone looking to stay in the area.

After waiting 50 minutes when advised would only be 20 we chased our meal and was asked if we had changed tables since ordering which we had not. Apologised for the delay explaining they were very busy - however we were sat inside the restaurant and only outside was busy but clearing. We were served with bangers and mash (sorry was there any mash under those sausages) and scampi and chips specifically asking for no peas but peas came anyway. The chips were hard and full of fat. Finally gave up eating my meal as staff constantly squeezing past me whilst trying to eat to get to the bar. Advised waiter when asking if we were finished that it was terrible and got the standard ‘sorry about that’ and walked away. We were going to order pudding but swiftly left.

Situated a couple of miles out of Corfe Castle in the picturesque village of Kingston. Great position for hikes around this beautiful area of Dorset and provides a comfortable stay for weary walkers. Accommodation was fine, spacious and clean, but starting to look a little bit worn around the edges -could do with a bit of a spruce up before the busy summer season. The quality of the cooked breakfast was excellent, and it was lovely sitting watching Corfe Castle appear out of the mist in the morning - absolutely stunning view.
Dined both nights - the food was a bit of a mixed success but generally very good with friendly service. Unfortunately they had run out of a few food and drink options on our first night, but better the second evening.
There’s bus stops a few steps away from the pub going to Swanage and Poole - handy if you don’t want to take the car.
Would happily stay here again.

This pub/hotel is located just outside Corfe Castle, but high over the town with a fantastic view from the garden (and garden level dining room) to the castle itself.
The staff are friendly and helpful but appear to work every hour God sends but are always cheerful!
The kitchen works very hard and produces great dishes featuring local ingredients, most especially fish and crab and any dishes featuring these are to be recommended!
Overall, a great weekend's stay in a very comfortable room at a good price!
