Took my mum, daughter and dog here for afternoon tea, after a mistake on the booking by 10 Castle Street they turned it around! We had a lovely time. Thank you James for looking after us! Even our dog had his own arm chair..

It is with regret that I write this review as on arrival, everything appeared to be excellent.Beautiful setting, friendly bar staff and a group of 25 friends to share the experience. As we sat to eat,the mood was high and the expectation of a 3 course meal in a 5* hotel, exciting. As the food began to arrive the starters for some of our party were delivered as expected. For some, the murmurs of dis-satisfaction began to surface. As the mains arrived, more of our party complained their food was cold, the birthday host was served last and again the meal was cold. One of the party continued to wait and the meal failed to arrive-even after all had been served. It NEVER arrived! A meal containing clams was re-heated 3 times and subsequently left.Side dishes failed to arrive with the meals and the once jubilant mood of the party began to disolve. The manager was called, failed to attend promptly and once one did arrive, promised to refund the deposits and not charge us for the meal. This was not offered as way of compensation,it was demanded by the lead of the party and agreed by the 'manager'..Not once was there an apology for the delay (which could have been managed professionally)or the party attended to by a host to oversee the party. The 'front of house' manager failed to surface after the first complaint and the once happy waiting staff looked embarrassed at the evident disaster of the dinner party. After the organiser of the party returned to the venue for the promised compensation, they were met with a rude and unapologetic response. The return of deposits was refused and allegations that the party made the staff cry etc strongly denied. Our party was made up of doctors, teachers, business professionals and long standing members of the community. To be accused of such behaviour is insulting and highly unprofessional!Dining parties beware! It is clear that the kitchen could not cope and after discussing this as a potential wedding venue for myself, will not see the return of the 25 strong party ir anyone else looking for a recommendation from us.

What a gem! We spent one night there last week courtesy of Secret Escapes and we also had dinner. A warm welcome from Julie. The hotel is beautifully renovated and exquisitely furnished throughout, with some wonderfully eclectic art, providing an extremely relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. I just loved the Wisteria hung Loggia for a quiet half hour with the newspaper after breakfast. Lovely bedroom overlooking the formal gardens at the rear. Dinner was, as expected – superb. And, apart from the restaurant, it is dog friendly!

Will return to this gorgeous hotel. In the meantime, we booked a night there for our daughter and son-in-law in early July when the hotel hosts the Dorset Wine Festival.

My partner and I stayed here last Saturday for 1 night ... Beautiful house with extensive garden and beautiful rooms.
We ate in the restaurant , the food was delicious as was the breakfast . The staff were friendly and professional .
The house has lots of character and well maintained and clean.
I would highly recommend a stay or even to stop by for a meal or drink at the bar.
Thank you so much .
