A high windswept location and a welcome stop if travelling along the southern side of Loch Ness. Very friendly host & hostess and very tasty food. An old fashioned atmosphere where you're likely to find some broad Scots being spoken by locals.

Stayed here for a night in a family room before running the Loch Ness Marathon. Lovely room, good pub grub, friendly owners and great beer (perfect when carb'ing up for a marathon!). Hope to return soon.

When I came to stay here in April, though I liked the location, I was not overly impressed with the bedrooms: very mis-matched, outdated furniture and nothing of a homely feel. However, when I came back this month (August) I was pleasantly surprised. A lot of change has happened in those short months. A big effort had been made to make the rooms seem more coordinated and comforting after a long day outdoors and I felt far more inclined to relax in my room. Just little touches, such as a DVD selection in the rooms and some plump cushions made me look forward to coming back in. The new owners were very inviting, attentive and keen to take any feedback on board to improve the standards of their hotel and restaurant. All of the food I ate was tasty and the staff were always polite. As I am a vegetarian, by the end of the week I was running out of different food options. This was quickly picked up on by the owners, who in the space of a day added meat-free options to their menu so that I could enjoy a variety of food. I had soups, curry, pizza, veggie burgers... all delicious and homemade. Breakfast was always filling and served promptly with a smile. Could not ask for more. I will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are now decorated to a theme; if you mention your hobby when booking, the owners may try to accomodate.

We went in around 6.30 but service was slow, the young lads of the family took orders promptly it just seems there's a slowdown in the kitchen. Ended up waiting 45 minutes for food. I had heard it was new owners that moved in Mid-July so hopefully things will improve with the speed of dishes coming from the kitchen.
Food itself was good, not mind blowing but tasty enough. Drinks from the bar were quite slow.
Hopefully if we are up this way again it'll be better.

Whitebridge is a small lodge site based 8 miles North of Fort Augustus in the middle of superb scenery. We actually stayed in the lodges not the hotel but this is more of a review of the area of Whitebridge. At the lodges there is very limited Wi-Fi and no mobile signal, but that just ensures that you enjoy more of the countryside than sitting down on your bum. You cannot appreciate the immense beautiful scenery here. You can walk for miles in the countryside and there are lots of little places to stop. For example The falls of Foyer 5 mile walk. Fort Augustus is a small town at the base of Loch ness where you can sit at the side of the five Loch gates watching the boats go up and down through the gates. Anyway Whitebridge Hotel is a little saviour if you want a meal and / or drink and is based about 100 yards from the lodges. The hotel has Wi-Fi. Is peaceful, hosts very friendly, has real ale and a variety of different dishes which will suit anyone. Reasonably priced and in walking distance of the lodges. Billiards room attached. If you want a scenic - peaceful holiday but don't want to cook all the time, then I recommend Whitebridge. Oh and most lodges have hot tubs - which are amazing to use. Bring a camera - you won't be short of pictures to take.
