This lovely hotel/ bar/ camping area is right on the West Highland Way which is very important at the end of a long tiring day!
We stayed in a cabin near the end of our West Highland Way walk and were not disappointed. The cabins in the camping area are comfortable and exactly what we expected. You need to have your own sleeping bag/ towels etc as outlined when booking, however there is the opportunity to rent these items if needed.

The highlight for us was the well stocked bar, tasty food and the friendly and kind staff. Thanks for a great stay.

The best thing about this hotel is the breathtaking view of the loch from it’s pub. It almost excuses the tired look of the rest of the establishment. With a bit of capital injection, this could be a beautiful country hotel. It seems to cater mostly for hikers. The decor and state of the building are screaming for TLC.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am sure that the 96% of our guests who are hikers are extremely relieved that we have not wasted our capital injection on turning our hotel into a country retreat. Instead we have invested in new comfortable beds, high pressured hot water, panoramic windows and a terrace in the bar to enjoy the view, new windows with state of the art midge screens in the bedrooms, a new shower block for our cabin and campsite guests and, most importantly, a fabulous team of people. We would say that the best thing about our hotel are the hikers, they have driven every investment we have made, and keep returning in their thousands.

Well, this was an interesting experience but not very comfortable. The cabins were very small and we had to manage with a very small space. The toilets and the showers were about 200 meters away from our cabin, which made it very (!) uncomfortable, especially in the middle of the night..
Also it was very cold and we only got a sleeping bag as a blanket. I guess the rooms inside the hotel are better than this..
If you end up there - make sure to enjoy the very beautiful view.

Room tip: If you're not very into sleeping in a cabin, take a regular room inside

Hi Sapir,
Thanks for taking the time to write a review, we are sorry that you didn't find the cabins comfortable. All of the cabin beds are full size single mattresses and the size of the cabins are reflected in the prices that we charge. The toilet block is around 50m from the cabins (but no one wants campsite toilets too close to the accommodation!)
The cabins come with oil heaters to heat the cabin to a level that guests are comfortable with and all of our hired sleeping bags are a 200 rating (suitable for use at 5 degrees celsius or higher).
The price for 2 people in a cabin is £20 per person, we think this reflects good value for the location and facilities on offer. Our hotel rooms are totally different to the cabins and this is reflected in the £52.50 per person price. We find that by offering a variety of accommodation options the Hotel & Cabins are accessible to a wide range of guests, all of whom are welcome in the Bothy Bar to enjoy our amazing view.
Helen

Place not recommended despite the kindness of the staff.
We did not feel well in the room we had, that wasn’t clean and there was not enough light. The only comfort was the hotel bar and the restaurant.

We hope you are feeling better now. Our rooms are cleaned daily and we would have appreciated it if you had brought any concerns about the cleanliness of your room to one of our kind team members whilst staying. I know I’d have complained to Reception if I felt a room was not clean. I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to pay full price on checking out. All of our rooms have natural light from the window, an entrance light, centre light and two over bed lights. The recommended amount of light for a room that size is 2000 lumens and our rooms have up to 3000 lumens with all of the lights on. We are glad that you found comfort in our bar and restaurant and appreciated the kindness of our team.

We visited twice for dinner last week and were delighted on both occasions. We had our border collie with us so it was great to find somewhere comfortable with dogs. The staff couldn't do enough and I'd like to thank them from all of those in our party. They were super helpful and went out of their way to welcome us. The food was equally as good with the menu having something for everyone and it was cooked perfectly. We will definitely visit again the next time we are in the area.
