Booked 4 nights but only stayed 3. We weren’t happy with our stay here, the rooms were comfortable but the walls were paper thin and we slept poorly for 3 nights. You could actually hear people using the toilet and snoring from other rooms. There were barely any staff, we had tea and coffee but no milk, we ran out of towels and toilet rolls, our bin was overflowing. When trying to find staff to ask for anything there was never anyone around. No proper reception, no bell, totally unorganised. Meal times were a joke, guests walking through dining room with cases isn’t really ideal! Areas of hotel really scruffy, laundry room open to elements with sheets all over dirty floors. This place really needs a good clean up and it might be worth what they’re charging! Appreciate COVID is disrupting things at the minute but I’ve stayed elsewhere and no other hotels have been this bad. I do feel this hotel could be a nice place if it got its act together. Waiting an hour for dinner isn’t ideal, also why is your chef taking a cigarette break just as dinner starts, keeping guests waiting? Also I’m wondering how they cope with weddings. We ate here twice on our stay and that says it all. We paid for 9 meals! We booked our stay through Secret Escapes who have partly reimbursed our stay due to a goodwill gesture on their part as they can’t seem to get hold of anyone from the hotel! Surprise, Surprise!! Poor management I’d say. They should be ashamed of themselves. At least Secret Escapes did the decent thing and value their customers feedback. If you can’t handle paying guests ‘Brander Lodge’ don’t take peoples money or reduce your rates accordingly.

Stayed for three nights at Brander Lodge and had a super time. The rooms were really clean and comfortable and as we were on the ground floor we also had a nice little patio area to sit out on. The food was first class. Excellent cooked breakfast (Scottish style of course!) as well as a nice buffet selection for pastries, cerials etc. The evening food was very good too and at sensible prices. Dont miss out on a walk to the bottom of the garden where there are steps down to the River Awe. The view down there is breathtaking. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Carlos has recently taken over as Manager and was excellent. Ellie, our waitress, was a little gem and never stopped. It was a great place for a short break to visit Oban, Glencoe, Isle of Mull, and best of all the train trip from Fort William to Mallaig. We shall return to explore more of this wonderful area and thanks to the team at Brander Lodge for making us feel at home.

Room tip: Ground Floor rooms benefit from an outside patio area

Was apprehensive after reading recent reviews, but was very surprised, service was excellent as was the food. Staff were very pleasant and welcoming albeit light on the ground. Room was clean and comfortable and as with every other hotel we have visited this year not getting serviced each day due to pandemic. Will definitely return.

Lovely place , lovely setting.. great potential. At the moment ship without a rudder. Little or no staff, always saying sorry . Booked for 9 days, no housekeeping whatsoever ( found store ourselves for towels/ linen)
Meals were included every night, cancelled without notice once( 4 in total) very annoying when nearest place a few miles away!!
Strongly suggest you avoid , if it’s too late make sure you get refund for cancelled breakfasts and dinner immediately as it’s impossible to find any staff /management who care or do the right thing.
Travel a lot, 1st time in Scotland, 1st time to leave a review, but so let down/ dissatisfied. Understand covid / hospitality is stretched , don’t do weddings for 70 with 3 staff and book in clients you can’t manage !!!!
