Lovely setting, rooms clean and tidy, main areas also very clean and well presented by a small team due to COVID and Brexit situation. Food was very tasty, and portions more than ample. Breakfast supplies of bread for toast and juices started to run out at 09,00 but were refilled after we pointed it out. Particular thanks to Ellie who was well organised, very helpful and has the drive and personality to go far in the hospitality industry. Carlos also deserves a mention for his great customer relations skills.

Room and en-suite clean and comfortable, was nice having a private terrace to sit out. Food overpriced. Staff really friendly and helpful, but mostly did not wear masks properly and served my meal wearing no mask.

We have just had 4 nights at the Brander Lodge (room2), and were a little worried by a few negative reviews. I have to say that we were very happy at Brander Lodge. There is a staff shortage but the young waiting staff could not have been more welcoming. The chef went out of his way make us welcome and served us when the bar was unstaffed. He explained about the staffing shortages post Brexit and Covid. He struggled to get deliveries and as a consequence could only maintain a limited menu. Having said that, we ate something different every evening and it was very good quality and served promptly. Breakfast was very enjoyable. In short you could order whatever variation of cooked breakfast you wanted. Everything was piping hot, well presented and very tasty. There was also a selection of pastries, fruit yogurts and cereals.
The only negative was the lack of soundproofing between rooms. The walls truly are paper thin and you can clearly hear every bathroom noise your neighbours above and next door make.
In summary, the location is beautiful, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is very good, but somewhat at the mercy of current national supply chain difficulties. The rooms are well presented and very clean.
Thank you Brander Lodge staff for a memorable stay.

We booked for two nights but reluctantly stayed the second night.
They were very short staffed. We had an evening meal on the first night. I had the sausage and mash and the mash was lumpy.
Although the breakfast was really tasty the organisation was poor. We had to ask for coffee as there was none left on both mornings and this was only at 8.45. The table where you prepared the coffee was full of spills and dirty cups. There was no teaspoons and you had to go searching on other tables fir things.
The room was comfortable and warm but you could hear everything from the surrounding rooms.
The staff were mostly helpful .
For nearly £300 + the price of the evening meal their standards need to improve a lot.

Had the pleasure of staying at this lovely and tranquil hotel for two nights. The challenges affecting hotels, bars and restaurants are well documented. Smaller teams, supplier challenges and so on putting immense pressure on those there to look after the guests. So reflecting on this i want to summarise slightly differently. The hotel is on a journey. Was I looked after well? Yes! Carlos and the small team literally couldn’t do enough! Did I feel cared for? Absolutely! Did I enjoy some good food and a proper Scottish breakfast? Yes I did! It so easy to pick the negative but it serves little purpose and in fact just demoralises a team that cares. The hotel is rising and will see full sunshine. Thank you Carlos, a true hospitality man supported by his wife Pip.
