We cycled over from Callander along the Sustrans route 7, although Sunny there was snow on the hills. We were looking for a nice bar before dinner and we weren't disappointed, we managed to get the seat by the fire and stayed much longer than we planned. Finding a pub with an old fire is such a bonus, it is such a pity that so many pubs have had them removed...

Stayed for one night! Rooms are lovely an the food is amazing to say the least! Recommend the burger!! On arrival we got moved to a room at the front as we had booked a back room, the view is lovely and was appreciated. Lovely little place! Would 10/10 come back here to stay!

We've been to this pub many times before and have enjoyed the atmosphere and the big open fire.

On Friday last we phoned to check when they'd open...they said by 5 - 5.15

We arrived at 5.45 and were delighted to see a roaring fire and all the candles lit.
Unfortunately, the doors were locked and in spite if knocking, nobody let us in.

There were loads of staff up the back of the carpark having a bonfire - but they completely ignored us too.

It was a freezing cold night and we decided we couldn't hang around until someone could be bothered to let us in.

So the Inn lost 8 hungry, thitsty customers....and gained a place on our 'don't bother to go back' list.....

We spotted this Inn in the background of an episode of The Adventure Show and thought it looked like a nice location so headed out for Sunday lunch. The location is beautiful - right across the road from the falls. Inside is traditionally styled with a welcoming fire in the bar area. We headed through to the restaurant to our table and pondered the menu and the daily specials. For starters we enjoyed the Cullen Skink which was a hearty portion served with bread and it tasted superb.
Steak Ciabatta with chips (£9.95) for 2 of our party and it was the special of haunch of venison with black pudding mash, seasonal veg and redcurrant jus (£15.95) for me. Absolutely delicious.

Only downside for me was that it was quite cold in the restaurant so wear layers.

Is this somewhere I'd recommend? Oh yes and friends of mine have already gone to check it out for themselves and I'm looking forward to a return visit - preferably one when I can try out the wine list.

Across the road from the waterfall this is a pleasant location to have lunch.
The menu is not extensive but there seems to be all the major options covered.
Prices are quite high but as this was the only place we ate I cannot compare them.
Killin is a very pleasant town and well worth a visit and you must spend a few minutes getting some photographs of the falls.
