Wanting a restful break in a comfortable hotel, we opted for 3 nights at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel. We had a very nice, large bedroom overlooking the front of the hotel. The room was a bit dated, but nothing to complain about.

All the public rooms were very nice, as were the staff. It was very busy when we were there, and the staff seemed to have a lot to do, especially in the dining room. The only major disappointment was the food at dinner, good ingredients, but the meals fell down on taste and presentation.

Room tip: Definately a front facing room

We attended our daughter's wedding to a local borders lad at Dryburgh Abbey last weekend with the reception afterwards at the hotel. What an amazing weekend we had. Friends and relations arrived on Friday and on Saturday the wedding party had exclusive use of the hotel. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful and organised. The whole weekend ran like clockwork and all the food was delicious and the service was faultless. The sitting room downstairs offered a lovely relaxed area for chatting and socialising and the formal reception room was beautifully presented and quickly turned around for the dancing later. Dogs were made very welcome and everyone at the wedding took away wonderful memories of a brilliant weekend. Thank you.

Booked this trip for me and my wife at the last minute. We were offered a great deal by going direct and we were not disappointed.
From the moment we arrived at reception nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff, the service was superb in all areas, friendly and professional.
We had an Abbey room overlooking the river and woods. Clean, a kingsize bed, flat screen TV immaculate bathroom, typical of a lovely country house.
The Tweed restaurant was a superb setting for dinner and we were delighted with the choice and the standard of the food, each course was excellent.
The pool although quite small was perfectly adequate for a pre dinner swim and sauna and much enjoyed.
All in all thanks to everyone at Dryburgh, we look forward to seeing you again soon

Room tip: Depends on your budget but all rooms are excellent

This lovely old building sits in several acres of tranquil countryside. Driving up to the hotel it looks quite grand. Unfortunately even before I went inside it was glaringly obvious that this was a hotel in need of major refurbishment. The lounge area consisted of comfy sofas and chairs that have seen better days. Paintwork dull and lacklustre. Bedroom had a television which looked like a relic from the turn of this century. Booked for 5:30 dinner in Bistro. Food was well cooked and nice but for a hotel billed as 4 stars, it was decidedly ordinary and unimaginative.
However, the staff were welcoming, polite and very obliging. The service, discreet and friendly. Although stepping through the doors of the hotel was like stepping into a maiden aunt's house in the 1960's, it was warm and clean.

It's the staff that makes this hotel special. The rooms are a bit tired & definetly need updating to make it look like it's 4 stars, however it was very comfortable. I also expected a 4 star hotel to have a room safe and a fridge. I would however stay here again if the price was right as it's a bit over priced for the quality of the rooms. The food however I could not fault, equally the service. They also cater very well for special dietary requirements which does make a nice change.
