This hotel met our expectations and more. The staff were very friendly and the food and drinks in the pub were great and good value. This hotel was in a perfect location to walk to Ruthin Castle in less than 5 minutes where we had a most haunted experience which was brilliant. If I visit Ruthin again I will definitely stay here.

Having called to the Castle over the last few months for food and drink i have found the food to be great value for money but the overall venue is spoilt by a reluctance of the staff to clear away dirty plates and cutlery resulting in patrons having to clear the tables themselves.

On request we was offered a lovely room with views of the olde worlde town and hills beyond, it was quite a large room with settee and fireplace, it was all very nice.
Unfortunately when we went to run a bath the water was lukewarm at best, went down to reception to complain and had to use phone to contact someone.
We was informed it was possibly because every other room was running water at the same time. so already made up with a cold , had a lukewarmish shower, not impressed, when asked on checkout if we enjoyed our stay i mentioned the water, no really sorry about that.
Next morning water temperature still the same, nice hotel but sort the water out !

Room tip: Room 102 me think

Firstly the receptionist who knew we were there to check in at 2 disappeared just before 2 and didn't say anything to us or arrange cover ? We had to ring a number and eventually one of the bar staff booked us in. The room was nice, well equipped but there was a door to an adjoining room and I dont know if this made it less soundproof but the people in the room next door were very loud late at night and then again at 6.30 in the morning. We could practically hear their whole conversation. Bar staff were friendly, food was ok. Then key cards stopped working an hour early , clock not changed when they went back? So couldn't get through door to the corridor for room, had to walk down stairs (no lift). Rarely a receptionist on the desk so had to ring a number again.

Visited this lovely establishment during a friends wedding.

Stayed here for two nights and found the room and facilities excellent.

Loved the wooden beam look in my room and the shower was modern, and good pressure (I was on 1st floor)

The pub itself is typical weatherspoons - good range of drinks, good food and great prices.

All bar & hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

If only they could have changed the result of the rugby, I would have given them 6 stars.

No hesitation in booking here again.

Thanks to all
