Our stay had been cancelled 3 times due to Covid, it was our anniversary treat 2020 which became anniversary treat 2021! It was worth the wait, we had a fabulous time and we loved staying there.
The grounds are beautiful, the peacocks, the rabbits, the History of the castle, the gardens are superb.
The breakfast is just yummy and the staff are all lovely.
We stayed in room 309, lovely view , we loved the old aspect of the building so if you expect modern you are booking the wrong hotel, it is full of history and they kept it faithful to the History and tasteful.
There is stories of ghosts in the hotel....we had 2 spooky experiences with random door slamming at night and my husband having terrible nightmare of Lady Grey but we think it was our imagination!
We loved sitting in the garden outside with the fairy lights and listening to the peacocks calling each other at dusk.
We went to the spa and had 1 hour in the outside hot tub with access to the steam room and sauna, it was lovely and relaxing.
If you like nature walks, go to the field opposite the car park where the stone circle is, there are plenty of sheep, bees, butterflies for avid photographers and nature lovers.More
