We wanted a short break holiday.couldnt have chosen a better place. Ruthern Castle is a quaint .quirky peaceful place couldn't recommend it any higher. We were advised by reception to book dinner if We were eating at the castle as it gets booked quick we did and the food was exceptionally good along with the prices and staff were brilliant. The grounds are so nice peacocks black rabbits all just roaming around.our room was clean tidy very good bath and shower.and the tea and biscuits left in room were a good grade instead of usual run of the mill.
Car park was large no hassle at all with plenty room
Highly Reccomend afternoon tea very good value..
Also reccomend spa for the ladies I booked one for my wife.and iwas able to go in steam room and sauna whilst waiting at no extra cost.wish I had brought my swimwear for the outside jaccuzis which looked amazing when she came out of having beauty treatment she said she felt so much better..
Also Rhyl beach is only a 30 min drive so we went to beach which was nice

WOW WOW WOW…

This place is absolutely amazinggggggg, after reading all the TERRIBLE reviews on Ruthin Castle we were actually looking for somewhere else to stay. My partner said “let’s just give it a chance” so we did and I’m soooo glad we made that decision.
People banging on about the decor, the plaster cracking & this & that ffs ITS A CASTLE not a 2021 newly built hotel!! What did you expect????? We travel all over staying in nee & old 4/5 star hotels & apartments!! This was by far my best experience. We LOVED the history, the food, our room, the peacocks, the late bar…EVERYTHING. The town is also beautiful, we walked around and had a few drinks at the pubs then walked back late at night when the hostel was all lit up absolutely beautiful ♥️♥️♥️♥️

We will 100% be back

This was a birthday gift from my husband & we stayed for 2 nights. On arrival our double room was lovely & overlooked the roof above the dining room with a view of the town. The bathroom was very tired & desperately needed modernising but apart from this, we were very happy with our room. I was shocked to find as we looked out of our window, the peacocks patrolled the roof, which was absolutely adorable. We never saw a manager or assistant manager on duty at all & the receptionist appeared to be running the hotel alone, she did an excellent job!
Dinner & breakfast was lovely & come highly recommended by us but the one thing that was missing was a hotel bar.
We had a wonderful weekend & would definitely stay there again!

Was very worried about staying here due to all the negative reviews! We arrived for our friends wedding and was pleasantly surprised yes the building is in need of some tlc in places but what do u expect from an old castle. Our room was clean and tidy and the wedding was bloody amazing jamie and his team went all out to make sure it really was a magical day. I also would like to mention lucy she was looking after us all on the Friday what a lovely girl and bloody hard worker!
All the best guys x

My daughter and I had a fabulous day at the spa. Having read other reviews we were a little sceptical but shouldn't have been!! We were welcomed so warmly by both the receptionist and the lady carrying out our treatments both of which incidentally were fabulous. The hot tub was lovely and we enjoyed the afternoon tea in Berties restaurant. The Moroccan vibe in the spa was perfect for a castle setting. Dont let other reviews put you off we are already planning a return visit !!
