Staying nearby, popped in for midweek lunch with holiday friends and a visit up from my parents and brother, who live nearbyish.
Great lunch, great value, freshly cooked, big portions and much enjoyed.
Good beer!

We were a group of four mountain bikers looking for sustenance after a cold winters day on the hills.
We called on spec to find a full restaurant but a helpful member of staff suggested waiting in the bar until a table became available. A very old friendly and atmospheric bar had a good selection of real ales. Earlier than expected we were called to the restaurant where on being presented with the menus our first impression was the exceptional good prices. However keen pricing does not make a great meal but with out exception all four of us really enjoyed our meals. The poached egg and black pudding starter and the pheasant main courses were highlights and the deserts did not disappoint. Through out the meal service was excellent despite the restaurant being filled to capacity.
The only disappointment being we were all so impressed that we tried to book the following night but we’re told there was no room as they had a large party.
In my opinion you would have to travel a long way to beat this combination of value, quality and service and judging from its popularity a lot of people think like wise.

Had a great Sunday lunch at The Horse & Jockey, two of our party of eight asked in advance for a gluten free meal, and they were well catered for with gf Yorkshire pudding and gf gravy. The choice of roast was Beef, Turkey or Lamb, and everyone was happy with their choices. Staff and management are very friendly, and the atmosphere relaxed

We were staying in a cottage near to Knighton and we had a walk around the town and we decided to call into The Horse and Jockey pub for an evening meal, we were a party of 6 adults and 2 children, the pub restaurant was quiet and we were shown to a table and were quickly served with drinks, we ordered our food which was served within about 20-30 minutes, all the meals were very tasty and good potions, fishcakes were very nice, everyone enjoyed their meals, this is a very nice pub and restaurant, staff very attentive friendly and helpful.
