We visited here on a Wednesday evening after a shopping trip.
We had two Rump steak dinners and although they were a bit busy we didn't have to wait too long.
The steak was tender and delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

to get a table on the evening of Friday 15 June when The Red started serving evening meals, prepared by new chefs Aga and Sam. We had been looking forward to the occasion and we were not disappointed. The decor at the Red defines the different areas - dining, drinking and a lounge area where customers can relax after their meal with coffee, etc and there are stylish little touches throughout. The menu offers a good choice of dishes to suit most tastes. Our food was beautifully cooked and presented. We did something we don't usually do - we all tasted each other's food. People on neighbouring tables obviously enjoyed their meals, too, as we heard a lot of comments similar to our own. The ambiance is warm and welcoming and we can't wait to go again. We can only offer our best wishes to all involved and hope that things carry on as they started.

No frills, no fancies, good beer with staff and customers to talk with. Basic food with good sized portions, hot and wholesome. Just the job when walking.

Popped in here late on a saturday after travelling down the coast road, asked if the chips were "proper chips" and was told no they're frozen, so decided to go with the smaller sharer platter.
Food teperature was indifferent, pork ribs were just warm, chicken pieces were red hot, coleslaw did not look inviting, noticed as we were eating the food hygiene level guide on the window was 1, so felt it was too late to do anything about it.
Having said that, we had no adverse effects, but won't be revisiting have noticed on other reviews (after the visit) they are new staff....... sorry but still a way to go, and unusually you pay for food seperately even though we wanted drinks too.
