I booked Maraica Eco Hotel to lead a 7 day yoga retreat over New Year's, and I was really impressed by the hospitality, management, food, and venue. I really felt the welcome, care, and good energy from the whole staff. A big thank you goes to Miguel and Vera in the kitchen for their extra effort whenever I needed something.

The owner Fernanda was truly incredible to work with. Putting on a retreat is very detail-oriented with many logistics involved. She was so organized, efficient, reliable, communicative, and supportive from start to end. In my 8 years of leading retreats, this truly stands out.

I loved my room-- spacious, outstanding ocean view, and with a Zen-Mexican feel to it. The menu that was prepared for my retreat accommodated vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dietary needs. It's gourmet, so this takes time... and it's worth every delicious bite. Some of our favorites were: avocado toast with homemade bread and poached eggs for breakfast, ceviche for lunch, lentil cake for dinner, and signature guacamole for anytime!

Our yoga and meditation classes were held on the terrace overlooking the ocean. The sunset views were stunning and the uncrowded beach was a short 2 minute walk away, right where baby turtles are released into the water every night.

The guests loved the massages and surf lessons booked by the hotel.

The venue is about a 10 minute walk into San Pancho town, and I consider this especially ideal for yoga retreat. It's easy to get to the Tuesday farmer's market, or a visit to Paraiso Cafe for a latte, but far enough away to feel that you are away from 'busyness' or distractions.

With deep gratitude,
Hanuman Yoga Retreat

I don’t normally write something unflattering but this time I had to say something. First the property is indeed a boutique hotel. Across a busy side street and down an alley to get to the beach. Made this the reservation in October, arrived to find they had “overbooked” our room for one night. Apologized but that was it. Room was clean but almost no water pressure an when we did get the room promised there was NO hot water for showers. We let the water run for 10 minutes without it even warming up. The pool was absolutely freezing. In the 3 days there, my wife and I were the only ones to brave the pool for a couple of minutes. Continental breakfast consisted of orange juice, 2 pieces of sliced baguette one with retried beans and queso cheese and the other a fruit compote (quite good). A small espresso size cup of sliced fruit and I think it was very loose yogurt with a small amount of granola. If you are looking for the bare minimum “boutique” type hotel, then you might look into this. It is only about a 15 minute walk to town and there are some awesome restaurants in San Pancho.

Room tip: The best rooms are on the top floor, be prepared to walk up some very steep ramps and stairs.

Good location if you want just to relax and spent holiday without crowded beachfont(10min walk from town Centre ) and Maraica is quite easy to find. There is nothing to complain about staff and rooms. Staff is friendly, kind and very helpfull. When you'll arrive they let you know everything. We got (Fan) room, Wi-Fi. Room was big enough, clean and comfortable. Roomcleaning every day. Hotel is quite unique and atmosphere is peacefull. Design is inspiring and nice.

worth for the money, If you are looking peacefull and clean accomodation with great. Everything is inside walking distance. Only bad thing: no warm water (shover)

My husband and I and a group of our friends from the US, Canada and the UK recently took over most of Maraica in celebration of my husband's birthday. We had a truly amazing time at this hotel. The location is perfect- just a 10 minute walk down the beach to town, but well away from the noise of the town's roosters. The property is beautiful with great views from most of the rooms and the perfect view of the sunset from the pool or the giant palapa. And the staff is the best! From the wonderful owner, to Carlos who makes the most delicious and beautiful artisanal cocktails, to the great front desk staff, to even the night security man, every person is incredibly warm and welcoming. We had an amazing time and would stay here again in a heart beat.

Room tip: I like the upper level rooms which are away from the road.

Location: this beautiful boutique hotel is 12 minutes walk from San Francisco (San Pancho), you can either walk on the beach or on the road. The location is great as you will be far from the noise and you will find very few people at the beach right in front (2 min walk). Great personalized service by the owner (Fernanda).

Rooms: the rooms are “palapas” with a balcony, with a simple and very nice decoration. Some of the rooms have great views to the ocean. We stayed in December (dry season and chilly during the nights)

Hotel: the hotel has an small lobby area a pool and and a bar.

Pet-friendly: the hotel is 100% pet friendly. Your dog will be allowed at any areas of the hotel.

To keep in mind:

- It is a small boutique hotel in a very small town, do not expect luxury chain-hotel services.

- The restaurant of the hotel is small and offers delicious homemade continental breakfast. It also offers snacks service until 2:00 p.m. There are plenty of restaurants in town for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Hint: if the pool/bar area is not busy, the bartender can make you a delicious fresh Ceviche and Guacamole.
- Beach: bring an umbrella or buy one in town. The beach in front of the hotel doesn’t have umbrellas or seats.
- The hotel is eco-friendly so keep in mind there is no AC, TV or Wi-Fi in the rooms. This is great if you want to relax and disconnect.

- There is really bad internet service in the whole town, so be prepared to be away from social media and emails for a while. Bring cash, Because of the internet, the ATMs an electronic payment terminals might not work.
- There is a hotel next door, its pool faces some of the rooms of Maraica. There might be noise during the day.
