The pub is very cute and pretty and the staff are nice. Unfortunately the first room we were shown to smelt extremely bad of damp and the room itself was freezing (request a room not on the ground floor if booking). Staff were able to provide us with another room after a quick clean. There were no house keepers which was a bit of a surprise in the current climate and needing to frequently clean high touch areas.
The food was average, dinner was quite nice - get what you pay for. Breakfast was quite poor, warm bread not toasted, really fatty bacon.
We were attending a wedding not too far away, we were told we could leave our keys at reception - DO NOT DO THIS! When we got back at 23:50 they keys had not been left where they said and we were locked out of the hotel. Fortunately the young boy finishing up was still here and was able to let us in after telling us the pub was shut. If we had arrived 5 minutes later we would have been locked out of the hotel for the night.
It is a shame because the pub itself is cute and has a lot of potential. Wouldn’t advise staying.More
