Healesville Grand Hotel
Ranked #18 of 59 Restaurants in Healesville
Price range: US$6 - US$21
Cuisines: International
Description: We are new owners of the Hotel and have fully renovated our bistro, bar and kitchen. Opened since November 2015 we are proud to have given the Old Gal a facelift and brought her back to life. We are Healesville locals who pride ourselves on providing the local people as well as our tourists to the region somewhere they can take their families. All of our staff are wonderful and friendly. Great Family owned and operated hotel showcasing our local yarra valley produce and wines, ciders, beers and gin. We pride ourselves in offering affordable yummy food where you can enjoy a relaxed, friendly atmosphere without breaking the budget. Best Parma's in the area. The Grand Hotel Healesville built in 1880, is a historic Yarra Valley icon which, now under new management, has been renovated and transformed into a stylish new hotel with relaxing interiors, whilst still maintaining its historic charm. New owners, Michelle and Richard, with their extensive experience in renovating many of Healesville's Historical Period Homes and Guesthouses, have now transformed the Grand Hotel back to what the locals know as "the Grand Old Lady", but with a modern twist. Locals, Michelle and Richard focus on showcasing local produce and local wines, offering a fantastic menu selection at reasonable prices. Since opening in November 2015, we have been delighted with the positive response from not only the tourists, but the local patronage. It's great to see familiar faces returning again and again to the Grand, sampling a variety of meals on the menu. Our Head Chef offers a Scrumptious Seasonal Menu, alongside our ever changing specials. As well as our seasonal menu, we also offer "Pub Favourites" such as Chicken Parma, Fish and Chips or Rump Steak, 3 definite favourites with the diners. When you walk in the door, the Grand Hotel Staff are always welcoming and warm. Whether you are looking for an afternoon catch up for drinks with friends, a family meal or a social gathering to wine and dine, The Grand Hotel is the perfect Pub to visit. The Healesville Grand Hotel is open 7 Days a week for lunch and dinner.

Good pub food, a little noisy but good service. DON'T order the donoughts - they are as dry as a chip.

My friend and I went for lunch yesterday. The staff were welcoming and friendly.
The menu was not extensive but adequate.

We slept & dined at the Grand Hotel.

The reception was very friendly.

We were given room nr 4, small & clean. The bed is on the small side.
The shared bathroom facilities on the 1st floor were dated.

Next to room 4 is a storage room with a non-stop noise making fridge.. By the time we wanted to go sleep there was no one left to help us.
Next day carpets were laid early (over the wooden floor). The d.i.y. coffee room as well as upper deck were cloaed.
We were offered a coffee & tea.
Avoid room 4.

The dining experience was somewhat odd.
You can sit outside in the patio.

Wrong menu was noted (and only corrected after asking twice), cutlery was not brought to the table, table water had to be requested for, despite we were hotel guests we had to pay up front (before deciding on dessert) and we had to relocate to a non-smoking table when food was served.

And the cannelloni was served luke-warm with a lot of dough.
Perhaps it was the Monday-evening crew?

Concluding: avoid hotel room nr 4 and better skip Monday for dinner.

I was super impressed with my visit here. I had a special Parma which was very good, and at $24 reasonably priced for the generous serving.
There’s a nice beer garden out the back with sun and shade. The service was good, country hospitality. Friendly and efficient. When I’m in the area again I will definitely be back.
