Jeannie and Lance run a tasteful, warm B&B just on the edge of Wonthaggi town. The rooms and bathrooms are beautifully, modernly renovated, but they've retained the charm of this 1915 pub/hotel. This is no twee place; this is smart, thoughtful accommodation. We also loved the north facing gardens, where we had drinks after our 6km walk through the heathlands to Harmers Haven beach. An absolutely lovely place to stay, with no minimum number of nights, even over Easter. I wish we had stayed longer now. Very highly recommended.

What a surprise historic place to stay. Recently refurbished, under new management. Bedroom was 5*+. Bathroom so spacious. Separate reading room down stairs. Pool room. Hostes Lance & Jeanie soo helpful. Even gave us a free coffee as we were leaving.

Room tip: All rooms are well appointed

This is an excellent example of a beautifully restored heritage building with all the modern comfort inside. Bathroom is magnificent, bed is comfortable and the building is full of charm and character. So as its owners, lovely Jeanne and Lance. They were extremely helpful and accommodating, and were putting up with my husband Duncan's jokes beautifully! Thank you so very much for the hospitality, we would like to be back sometime. The Bass coast has a lot to offer and this B&B can be a great base to explore it. Highly recommend.

Had a wonderful two night stay here. The huge 100 year old converted pub has been beautifully renovated by Jeannie and Lance, who are warm and generous hosts. Plenty of privacy with lovely indoor and outdoor guest areas. In a great spot for a weekend away - only 2-3 mins out of Wonthaggi and a short drive to Inverloch, Philip Island or Wilsons Prom. We had the king suite/cooked breakfast package, which was great value. Highly recommended!

Room tip: All rooms have a designated private bathroom, but the king suite is worth a little extra for the ensuite.

This is a beautiful, somewhat quirky find, great for a day trip from Melbourne or if you're on your way to Philip Island or Wilson's Promontory (as we were). These two have done an exquisite job restoring this former miner's hotel/bar. And they're kind, curious and generous people. Really couldn't recommend any more highly.

Room tip: We loved the queen...
