Even though the hotel was fairly nice, and the staff cordial overall, a few issues tainted the experience for us. 1) Transportation information. We could not rent a car because of our international license was not recognized in Italy. Though we explained our predicament to the front desk several times, they never offered us ANY information about the most reasonable transportation solution: shuttle between the hotel and Varignana station for a 5€ charge, and a train from there to Bologna for 2,20€ per person. They kept insisting on us hiring 50€ taxi service through the hotel--obviously they make a good commission there. I had to ask them insistently and persistently about the train solution before they offered us the shuttle service. 2) We booked our flights to Bologna so that we would show up at hotel early enough to enjoy their Spa from 6-9pm on Friday eve. The service was included in the price we had paid. But no, we could not go to the spa unless we paid 80€ that night because it was only open for a buffet party. We would have still gone but they did not have any vegetarian choices for us. 3) They charged us a huge extra fee for something that should not have been there... And on and on like this. We got the clear feeling that the main instruction from the management was: Squeeze as much money as you can out of any person that walks in. It was not tactful and not nice. I would not come back to this hotel. There is more humanity out there even as business goes!

Room tip: Be careful when booking... hidden charges may occur

We had a busy travel schedule, so I'm not sure that the wonderful spa facilities were truly appreciated by a "tour group". With room, four hours of spa time per day included, but our tour was just not set up for that type of R&R. Nice walking areas, and gardens in season. It was a "big bus" nightmare however, as the road leading into this location is not set up for this type of traffic- just ask the morning commuters trying to get up the hill but having to back down to allow. New, clean, nice bar and breakfast setup. Only downside somewhat sterile for those wanting a more rustic European experience for their holiday.

Just perfect place for relax and sublime fun: the nature around, style, service and food. Visible sense of luxury. The ideal place to be pampered. It's worth to stay long enough to taste everything. Decisely to recommend

This modern and well laid out hotel complex is located in a quite hill side just 30 mins from Bologna . Spread over lots of area, there are several pools, spars and outside seating areas.
Rooms are modern and attractive , large beds , nice bathrooms and well serviced
The main restaurant is large spacious and nice views over the hills into the valley. Breakfast was generous and lots of choice. The locally grown estate food and wine feature regularly and are tasty and well prepared. The service is a bit ropey in the restaurant and struggles to meet 4* status - tables are roughly laid out , service poorly organised and sometimes just amateurish.
The bar area is nicely located, ambiance is good and the drinks are excellent [but as you might expect you do pay for it.]
My wife ordered tea for 1 in her room - Cost £12.
Spa is good with spacious areas and good quality facilities, nice hot rooms and good changing rooms.
The best kept secret is their little Marsolese Trattoria just on the edge of the site. Great food and service friendly team make a good effort here and about half the price of the main hotel .Book this first.
We stayed a week, it was a great location for visiting the hotspots branching off to Venice, Florence and little Ravenna.
Book ahead for best value and you will enjoy a relaxing stay out in the countryside.
Hire car recommended.
PS the Italians have a rule which prevents hotels from turning on their heating until dates in October- so we couldn't get a heated bathroom and towel rail?

Room tip: Huge choice of facilities

Perfect place to relax whilst doing business. Even with loads of telecoms and stress of work, you can't but help feel relaxed in these perfect surroundings and 5-star service. Don't hesitate and treat yourself to a perfect stay. Restaurant food on the evening was superb.
