We have been wanting to go here for some time. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed the exhibits and thought is was great for a town the size of Clifton to have this little jewel.

When I travel I enjoy visiting local, small town museums to learn about the history and culture of the area. This one is one of the best. The first section of the museum centers on the Horn Shelter Site which documents people were living in Bosque County over 9500 years ago. There is a video as well as a replica of the actual site. The rest of the museum is centered on recent immigrants to the area in the 1800s. The museum contains the largest collection of Norwegian artifacts in all of the South and Southwest. Exhibits include huge gun collection, primitive Texas furniture, photographs, textile collection, early medical equipment, fossils and lots of Norwegian items. The museum is much larger than it appears from outside.
Everything is wheelchair accessible except the 1850s log cabin that was the boyhood home of Jacob Olsen who donated many of the items in the museum and is located across from the entrance to the main museum building. There is a $5 fee. Although the museum has only one full time employee, volunteers are on duty to show you around. You can sense the pride they take in this museum. Everything is well organized and labelled and I really learned a great deal. If you enjoy history, I would recommend a visit here. I spent about two hours seeing everything but you could do it in less time.

This museum offers more information, beauty, history, and collectors' items per square
foot than any museum I've visited. Starting with a replica of a world class archeological
excavation found nearby, through arrowheads, tools, weapons, textiles, a settler's log
cabin, library, and local art and photography, this small building is full of information and
love for the history of Bosque County. The docents are friendly and knowledgeable, there is ample parking, there is rarely any traffic in town. We should probably keep this
museum a secret!

A great museum with lots of local Norwegian and German treasures. Also, so many cool arrowheads and fossils. A must see if you are in Clifton or traveling through.

This is a beautiful museum with volunteers and workers who quite evidently enjoy their job. It just underwent some renovations and it's quite interesting. Many, many items to look at. You will not be disappointed.
