The history of the German settlers in Texas was well organized and very informative. I felt like this should have been included in Texas History classes. The information made our visit to Fredericksburg more meaningful.

While the rest of the family had their lunch in the park, my youngest granddaughter and I visited here. It was fascinating, with items loaned or donated from the descendants of the original German families who started this town. Well worth a visit, which is free to everyone, but donations accepted. Try and see it if you can, to see the struggles immigrant families had to start a new life in the free world.

The museum was free (free will donation) and the staff person on duty was very friendly. It's a small museum, with not many exhibits, but it gives a nice little over-view of Fredericksburg's past. There are some interesting and unique gifts for sale there. It's a pleasant little spot.

German immigrants settled this town in the 1800's. Very interesting history of how they came to Federicksburg. This building is a replica of the original. It was the meeting place, worship center and educational building at one time. Now contains artifacts, memorabilia, historical documents and lots of history on the original settlers. Very educational. Free.

Give yourself 10-15 minutes go wander in this museum as you shop around Main Street. There is a great open area outside to sit and relax on a nice day. Admission is free, but they do suggest $1 donation.
