Went to the Black Pearl again last week. Always a bit of a wait, as the places attracts a crowd, and with good reason. Reasonably priced entrees, catfish platter for $22, and drinks added up to a good experience, again. I have always recommended this place to friends, and will continue to do so.

Galveston has become a very busy tourist area since there are 7 million people in the Houston Metro area. The sights, attractions, and food draw a lot of people here. Naturally, sea food is the top food. But, like any place that becomes popular, prices go up. The Black Pearl has great sea food and the gumbo is out of this world. Funny how the prices haven't sky rocketed yet. It's a small place so you may have to wait for a table to become available. But to wait for good food at a reasonable price is alright for me.

My wife and I shared the oysters and and an order of crab cakes. Both were very good. Massive street digging spoils the atmosphere slightly, but still worth a trip in the historic district.

we were there for Mardi Gras and saw the sign for the Black Pearl. There was a wait, but we were able to sit at the bar and eat. The oysters were very good, tender and succulent iced down really well. Chris at the bar was fun.
