We chose this hotel based on reviews & price, and we weren't disappointed. The room was one of the nicely renovated ones with a comfortable bed & chair. Everything worked fine in the room, including the A/C, the TV & the fridge. (We didn't use the microwave or coffeemaker.) Being an older building, outside noise creeps in at night, but we always use the Sleepbug app for white noise. Breakfast was very basic continental, nothing hot but toasted bread or microwaved oatmeal. :) With renovations going on, parking spaces might be blocked, and that makes parking tight when the hotel is full.

For the budget-minded, next door is a Waffle House, and Golden Corral is nearby. It's a quick walk (1-1/2 block) to the Seawall, the beach, the 61st Fishing Pier, stores & bike rentals.

The hotel staff was professional & helpful, and took note of issues like a leaky bath faucet & dim bathroom light.

Room Tip: External repainting began on 1st floor, rear. Apparently end rooms on 2nd floor would be quietest, having no neighbor on one side.

This hotel was the cheapest I could find, since I only needed a bed before my cruise. It lived up to its cheapness. It smelled of mildew, maybe because it was so close to the gulf. Nothing special about it.

Conveniently located, since you need a car in Galveston anyway. Short walk to beach and some restaurants. Very well maintained and clean, basic hotel. Quite a few were using the pool. Laundry facilities available. Great rates during the week, but much higher on weekends.

Dear Guest;
Thank you for your observations. I hope they will be helpful to others coming to Galveston.
It is true that weekend rates escalate considerably here on the Island. We strive to be economical
in light of this and always offer the best rate our location offers.

With the expenses of travel and area attractions, this is the Beachcomber's way of inviting
you and your family to the Island We are always striving to give our customers value at an affordable rate.

Regards,
Peter

This hotel was excellent value. It was a great location. The rooms were very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable which is a big deal for me when I stay at a hotel. There is a waffle house right next door which is great to walk over for breakfast.

This is a cute comfy hotel. but be aware that they charge the first night of stay before you even check in, we were to check in april 9th through 11th, our first night was charged in the night audit of the 8th. ALSO I was in a handicap accessible room, the tub is really deep and no safety mat or strips in tub, asked about safety strip or mat the morning of the 10th and was told that there would be one put in promptly we never received one. also the bathroom needed to be throughly cleaned, the toilet rim needed extreme attention, thankfully I didn't notice until right before checking out,

Dear Customer;

Thank you for your observations concerning your stay with us this April.
It is true that we charge one night's room and tax on the day of your arrival
as a guarantee of your reservation. This usually takes place in the early AM
hours of your arrival date. Depending on how your reservation is made (on the
internet or directly with us) you should have been informed of our guarantee policy.

The tubs we installed in our ADA rooms have a non-enameled bottom to prevent
slipping and enhance gripping. I will be speaking with the staff responsible for the
cleanliness of the rooms as we do mot wish to have issues with our bathrooms.

Again, thank you for your comments. Please know we strive to be better and offer
the most value for less costs to our guests!
