Review of Las Cazuelas

After trying a few Mexican places recommended by locals and been underwhelmed, we tried Las Cazuelas after noting that their parking lot was always pretty full. It features the same dishes as the other places, with a menu that is a bit broader. The egg dishes are quite tasty. Don't expect gourmet Mexican or any pretensions. What you'll get are better versions of the food found in other places in town. Good value--lots of items less than 10 dollars.

We were headed to the #1 rated Mexican Restaurant in Harlingen and saw the crowded parking lot at Las Cazuelas. So glad we tried it out! Happy hour margaritas are very refreshing and a couple of bucks. We had the cheese/chorizio appetizer = YUM! Hubby had fajitas and I had enchilada/taco etc. Took enough home for lunch the next day. Great food, awesome service and spectacular prices and this place has been around forever. TRY IT!

We were in town for a family gathering over the weekend and decided to stop at Las Cazuelas; in part, due to the large parking lot filled with cars.. The Breakfast selection was fairly standard for a Mexican restaurant in The Valley. Breakfast tacos are served on either corn or flour tortillas and ranged from overfilled to hardly filled; depending on the choice. Breakfast plates were inexpensive and made to order for those who didn't want the menu choices. May have been short-staffed the day we were there; so, the service was slow. The food was good and the prices very reasonable.

The local water is awful but the waitress brought me a bottle of water (at a charge). Our Mexican breakfast was mediocre. I'm from Austin and like Mexican breakfasts. This was not one I'd go back for.

The food has no taste and the place has roaches. The lighting is very low. I guess they changed the cook because the food quality has gone down and the cost up.
