Hotel Carlos III

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Mar 2017via mobile
Value for money. Really good location (In the center of Getafe and 5 minutes walking distance from the subway). Very friendly people. Variety in breakfast. Very good cleaning. Only one disadvantage there is no elevator. Carrying the suitcases upstairs was the only , but basic, problem.

I booked this hotel one night and the staff was so bad mannered and the hotel so dirty I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. I tried to cancell one night and the receptionist said he would charge it anyway..

This small hotel is very conveniently located to the metro, trains and the Carlos III university. There are also shops, restaurants and bars close. It's on a very quiet street. The room I was in was very nice, but... it was right above the front door which banged shut each time someone came in. The bed was very hard. There is little sound insulation and the place echoes quite a bit, there were numerous leaks in the bathroom from the shower. The breakfast buffet is nice and the staff are friendly.

This hotel is in a great position for walking into the main streets of Getafe. It is friendly, super-clean and smart. However our room overlooked the street to the front and the glazing is simply not up to insulating the noise from the street.
As far as value for money goes it is fantastic! We've stayed in far less salubrious surroundings and paid more.
I would stay here again but would be prepared with something sturdier than cotton wool in my ears!!

Ok I was visiting Getafe for a football match so a logical base but this hotel is great value for money. Me a single traveller getting a double room and breakfast for £33 a night spot on.Never be fooled by the term Hostal it just means a hotel with some things not available i.e. in this case a lift. As only two floors not really a problem for most although clearly not good for less able. Room appointed well enough, spotlessly clean, decent bathroom, TV aircon and breakfast perfectly acceptable. Location seems a little strange but lots of little side roads like this in Getafe and perfectly safe. They dont get many tourists so the bad guys dont hang around when there are few pickings they all clear off to Madrid. Great hotel, Getafe aint pretty but lots of bars and food just do your research. Now for the big plus point......value sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much cheaper than tourist trap Madrid, however for only £3 return on the suburban rail (5 mins walk slowly from hotel!) 20 mins whisks you into Atocha or Sol and services run well into the wee hours. In fact the rail links into the airport terminal 4 from which two stops back on the metro takes you to T1/2/3. do not waste time metroing (is that a word) all the way with connections to Getafe take the surban train and short metro hop. The tourist tickets do not cover Getafe well not the zone A ones anyway but tickets are so cheap I wouldnt bother with a day ticket anyway.
Great base, great hotel and if you put a little effort into Getafe you will get a lot of reward. Beware very little English is spoken but any attempt to speak even the most basic Spanish is rewarded with a smile and a lot of help. Give it a try. One word of warning, there is some noise as its very quiet late at night but the sound of voices carries a long way. Not the most soundproofed of hotels but as the bars rarely wind down until early morning what the hell???
