Isn't it great to be able to relax after having a long plane journey and relax again before the return journey!! That's what we did, magic. It's not far from the airport although our plane was late it was dark when we arrived at Duck Inn. (I have to say though it is not that easy to find in the dark as the small sign is partly behind a tree) Anyway we arrived at the Water Garden Cottage and after being welcomed by the Cora, the hostess, we dumped our cases and I jumped into the deep soak tub on the verandah. There was cereal left for our breakfast the next day, eggs, pancake mix, milk, cereal bars, fruit and of course Allan's great plate of Smoked Salmon, a treat indeed! After our trip we returned to the Duck Inn this time staying in Willow Cottage for four nights. Pure relaxation, feeding the passing swans and mallards, visiting the hot tub in the Florida and room, basking in the hammock, before or after our trips out each day. This is such a lovely place to stay with quirky 'ducks' everywhere, even the light switches! There were also canoes too if you wanted a trip up the river.

Room Tip: Each room is great!

Thank you for your lovely review, Pam. So glad you found us in the dark! We keep hoping that the city will move the street light so that it shines directly on the Duck Inn sign...and they are probably hoping that we'll cut down the big tree!
We really enjoyed having you as our guests and appreciate your enthusiasm about our little place on the river. Come back anytime.

We booked both suites at the Duck Inn the weekend of our wedding. Cora was so helpful and let us come out and check out the property before we booked to make sure it would be suitable. It worked out so well and Cora & the owners were so welcoming and helpful. They even left us a small glass heart as a wedding gift! The property is gorgeous - we enjoyed the hot tub, the bathtub on the deck of the ground floor suite, and feeding the swans! There was even some delicious treats in the fridge and some port for us to drink!
Thank you so much for letting us take some wedding photos around the property and for being so accommodating with our requests! We would love to come back!

Room Tip: We slept in the king bed in the lower suite - the mattress was a bit soft for our taste.

It was a great pleasure to help make your wedding weekend such a special one. You both looked lovely as you set out for Deas Island....a wonderful place for a marriage to start!
Perhaps you'll reappear as Anniversary guests....we'd love to see you again.

We LOVED our stay at Duck Inn!!! We traveled for 10 days from Vancouver to Whistler to Lillooet and ended our trip in Ladner at this wonderful Inn! Jill and Alan were so friendly and helpful. We had a BEAUTIFUL view with a large cottage (patio, front room, kitchen, dinning area, two bedrooms and 1 bth and 1/2 bth). We enjoyed Jill's "Florida Room" with a hot tub every evening and Alan's wonderful smoked salmon. We spent one morning canoeing up the river and back, then warmed up by our fireplace to relax. It was a perfect way to end our trip in beautiful Canada!

Room Tip: The cottage on the top floor has the best view!

And we loved having you as guests! Watching you paddling back from town against the current as raindrops started to fall....while we entertained friends for lunch on the dock was one of those "Where's my camera when I need it?" moments....especially the perfect turn executed by the man at the rear of the canoe.

We absolutely loved Duck Inn and our stay in Willow Cottage for our anniversary get-away. Duck Inn has a ton of character with lush tranquil gardens and many fine touches provided by immensely hospitable Jill, Allen & Cora.
Just a few of our favourite memories: comfortable canoeing along the picturesque river and islands @ sunset; watching eagles soar in the updrafts backdropped by the mountains; complimentary smoked salmon, farm fresh eggs & creamy Avalon Dairy milk; cycling to nearby Westham Island and Riefel Bird Sanctuary, Angel Estate wine-tasting & Emma Lea Farms for fresh berries & ice-cream; simply relaxing on Duck Inn's rivers-edge dock and Willow Cottage's private balcony all with spectacular, ever changing panoramas; the colourful, festive, cedar-scented Florida Room & hot tub; and of course the super comfy king-size bed & pillows!
We live in Vancouver, less than a 30 minutes drive, but for us Duck Inn is a perfect, peaceful world away.
We highly recommend visiting – we will definitely return...soon!

If you're looking for some peace and quiet in a cozy comfortable little cottage on the water - this is the place to stay. From free range eggs to bottled milk with cream on top to watching families of ducks swimming by is all part of the Duck Inn experience. Curl up in a comfy easy chair beside the fire and listen to the fabulous CD collection while sipping a cup of hot chocolate made with that creamy milk. An easy walk will take you into the picturesque village of Ladner where you can find boutique stores and a variety of grocery stores. Get ready to slow down and savor every moment of your river experience.
