Great area to visit sand dunes and watch people board down the dunes. Very scenic but the sand is not pink like in Bermuda.

Lovely, beautiful drive to the Park. Superbly friendly admission staff, and the layout is easy to figure out. We didn't really know what to expect so we took the advice of the ranger at the admission point. We had a lovely walk among the dunes, watching others slide and ride sand boards. The kids were non-stop happy. You can rent sand boards at the welcome center for $25 - we did not but probaly a good idea.

beautiful coral sand dunes, the finest of sand a lovely day out. Pity about the noise from the motorcycles riding on the dunes this for me spoiled the natural beauty of this perfect spot

This is a great place to stop for a break from the crowds. Note that the road in from the south is totally paved even though my map said it was a dirt road. The drive in was scenic and empty in mid March.

The dunes are beautiful and the sand is very fine grained and feels wonderful underfoot. This is obviously a mecca for off-road enthusiasts but we came during a relatively quiet time and saw one OHV only. We considered booking a tour but came in from the wrong area. You can spend a lot of time or just a little time to walk around wherever you like. If you bring a board, you can slide. For the $8 admission fee, we were quite happy to wander around and, in the entrance area, they have an amazing collection of sand from all over the world (as well as a pet snake).

This is definitely worth a detour and a nice break from the national park crowds.

This place looks to be worth more than the 50 minutes we had to spare, but we enjoyed our visit just the same.

Unique local topography and weather patterns mean that this small area gets lots of wind-driven sand which then erodes more granules from the pink rock in the area. This creates a permanent depository of sand in the form of large dunes. Bring water, and if you can, plan to stay longer than we did.

If you looked thru the photos, there are many that are super, and camping should be nice, as well.

We'll be back.
