We stayed 2 nights in the apartment and enjoyed the accommodations. It was clean, well stocked with everything you need and although it is attached to the restaurant and there was a period of banging in the morning, it was only a brief period. And the music from the restaurant wasn't overwhelming........you wouldn't even hear it if you were talking or the tv was on. Lorraine was wonderful.....very friendly and very helpful.
I would highly recommend this Inn.

We stayed at the Village Inn for two nights. The first night we stayed in the "apartment" next door because they didn't have a room in the main house available teh first night. The innkeepers son has a restaurant called Willey's in the same building as the apartment. He is the chef/owner. At about 9:30pm, the banging started. They were washing pots and pans in the sink in the restaurant after dinner. The sink was on the other side of the kitchen in the "apartment". This cleaning shook the ENTIRE house. I don't know how that was even possible. I called the front desk at the inn at about 10pm, and I got an unapologetic "Oh, that will eventually stop." HUH? After another 15-20 minutes, I went next door and knocked on the door to ask them when the banging would stop. Some pre-pubescent kid ignored my knocks and then eventually comes to the door and says it is locked and he cannot open it. Finally the chef/owner comes over, opens the door and tells me to take it up with the innkeepers. The innkeepers are his parents by the way. I then say goodbye with the international words of friendship (FU), and go back to the apartment. At 11pm, the banging finally stopped. The apartment is a large space undoubtedly. So if you have a large party that does not care about the cleanliness of the apartment or the banging (like a bunch of guys or friends), then this is the place for you from a cost perspective. BUT, if you are there with your family and want a nicer place, this is not the place for you. Breakfast is NOT included with the apartment. Also, we were going to eat at Willey's the next night, but after that flippant exchange we went to the Pub Outback, which was good. If that is how the chef/owner behaves, I have to believe the entire staff is going to behave that way. I don't want to pay someone else to be rude to me. Not on vacation.

We then stayed in the main Inn the second night and that was much better. The bathroom was cleaner and the room was quieter despite being right next to the front desk. Breakfast is included.

The innkeepers are nice and are trying, but I was miffed that she was unapologetic about the noise in the apartment and the cleanliness of the apartment was not up to par. You could at least give people a head's up before they sign up. We would have stayed anyway, but at least then we know. If I stay at this place again, I would only stay in the Inn itself, not in the apartment.

We stay here every visit to East Burke to mt. bike....even booked the entire place for our wedding and wedding party. George and Lorraine make you feel right at home. The gardens out back are amazing, and it's a really nice location, close to town and the trail system.

My family stayed here for a ski trip at Burke Mountain. We could not have been happier with our stay. The owners made the weekend fabulous.
Burke is an out-of-the-way place, so The Village Inn was understandably rustic. Our bedroom was very spacious and included three full beds that were comfortable enough, a futon, and a large desk. The room also had its own thermostat, but it was unnecessary as the chimney from the wood-burning stove in the basement kept the room quite warm. This was impressive, considering it hit -20!
There was a common kitchen with a fridge to hold any food/drinks you brought, as well as cooking space and utensils. The living had some old chairs and couches for relaxing and enjoying drinks and snacks.
The best part were the owners. The breakfasts they cooked were very, very good. Fresh orange and grapefruit pieces, scrambled eggs, fresh fried fish (surprisingly good for breakfast), and homemade croissants the first day; then fresh apple crepes and homecured bacon the second. I have not had a better breakfast in a long time.
If the breakfasts weren't enough, the owners helped us out of a major bind. It was so called the first night that our car engine froze and wouldn't start the next day. George the Owner drove us to the mountain so we could ski, and went back and worked on our car until he got it running.
The Inn was also within short walking distance of the village, so drinks and food were easy to come by.
If you go skiing at Burke, I'd highly recommend staying at The Village Inn. We'll be back next year!
