The inn is classic and charming. The town is beautiful, with many of the properties owned and maintained by the Windham Foundation. The cheese, produced by the Grafton Cheese Company and also owned by the Windham Foundation, is amazing. There's a little shop where you can buy fine wines. Bring your bike, hike or go skiing in the winter. It's all right there. The restaurant serves great food, and there's a limited menu offered sometimes in the Old Tavern. If you are missing your latte, there's a town about 12 minutes away called Chester, and in it is the Moondog Cafe. The coffee/lattes/cappuccinos are awesome. Perfect, relaxing time in a picturesque New England town!

Room Tip: There are single rooms, and there are "suites" in the main inn. I've always stayed in...

We stayed here on our honeymoon decades ago, and returned recently for the first time. We had a very nice room across the street from the Inn, room 37....oversized, very comfortable bed, lovely amenities, excellent wireless service, and clean bathroom. We did notice the creaking floorboards overhead, but the satisfaction of the rest subdues that detail. To be able to walk out the door of Windham Cottage and be in such a picture perfect New England village is quite something. We took a walk through down, out into the woods, and up a few side streets. Quiet, cozy, every house prettier than the next. We will return.

Almost 5 months ago, I met my fiance in the meadow along the swimming hole at the Grafton Inn where we exchanged our wedding vows in an intimate elopement ceremony ... it was nothing short of magical! The setting was the essence of New England ... I walked down a lush grassy hill, along a rock wall, past a swimming hole surrounded by vibrant orange day lilies to meet my husband. During our ceremony we heard the quiet babbling of a brook and when we had our first kiss as man and wife, we heard the bells of the church ring for us at the top of the hill. From the moment, we arrived at the Grafton Inn, we felt warm welcomes from each and every staff member of the inn. The innkeeper Kathy Cray was absolutely amazing throughout the entire process of planning our ceremony and stay at the inn, taking care of every detail imaginable ... our visit to the town hall to sign our marriage license? check ... champagne chilled for after our vows? check ... flowers in our colors on our dinner table? check ... tissues after a happy tearful ceremony? check ... you name it, Kathy and her staff were ready in the wings. Our elopement package included a 2-night stay with dinners and breakfasts, flowers, a delicious wedding cake, a justice of the piece if we wanted, a bottle of champagne, and a welcome gift ... everything we needed. The dinners and breakfasts at the inn were fantastic, our suite (the Cricketeers) was perfect for our 2-night stay, and the town of Grafton provided the quiet, picturesque setting that we will never forget. The Grafton Inn surpassed our expectations for eloping and we look forward to celebrating future anniversaries at this gem of an inn.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Cricketeers Suite ... perfect for the two of us ... quiet, private, and a jacuzzi t...

It will always be the "Old Tavern" to us!
This special place in a picturesque Vermont village brings us back time and time again!
We even have a room that we like to call "ours".
It doesn't matter the season, except for "mud" when the Inn is briefly closed, a trip to Grafton is always a delight!
Whenever we feel the need to get away, the Grafton Inn is the perfect place to relax and recuperate. Familiarity in our case has bred a special fondness....like a visit with good friends!
Although there are restaurants within fairly easy driving distance, we always choose to dine at the Inn. Although tables can't be reserved, we have "our" favorite! The food is delicious! On our most recent visit, I had the rack of lamb two nights in a row.
The full country breakfast is included with one's room and is a wonderful way to start the day!
We're looking forward to saying "almost 50 years"!

Room Tip: We won't share the number of "ours", but we really like 42 and 43 in Windham Cottage a...
