We have been visiting The Tyler Place since 2012. It has become our summer second home. Want to go to a hotel where everyone, including the owner and staff, are friends? This is it, and from your first visit. The love from this place is a healing balm. The Tylers curate a beautiful experience that renews us every year. You know when you go to a hotel and say to yourself, they should do this? The Tyler Plsce has already thought of it and done it. But IF you think of something (rare but possible) they’ve missed—it’ll be taken care of! It’s the summer bungalow colony everyone wishes for. The kids can be more independent than home. Parents can have fun nights with friends. And you get so much exercise, you burn off all the food. TP granola is the best! It’s so cute how they work Vermont and New England into things, putting maple syrup into the food-/in any case it’s delicious and it’s fun. It sure isn’t cheap. BUT as I told a family member, it’s not the cheapest, it’s the best. We save up all year. We love the Tyler Place!!

We come from Australia every few years to be apart of this awesome experience. It has been a winner for everyone in the family. Our children love the independance they get - it is so wonderful to see their confidence flourish. And as for the adults - it’s always the hardest day to leave. A resort that attracts the right people. Cannot wait to get back

What an amazing place. i have been coming since I was a young child and every year is amazing. This was my first year as an “adult” and it was everything I expected and more.

Food is good with great staff and very accommodating to any need.

I just realized that I never wrote a review for this special place! Lots of us who’ve been here refer to it as Heaven on Earth. Our family goes every June, and the kids have grown up with this tradition, going here for one week every year for the past 11. When you drive in, you’ve just gone back in time to an idyllic place where surely incredible family memories will be made. Tyler Place is the type of place that gets better every year you go. I’d highly recommend committing to the same week every year. Usually, the same families return the same week, and the friendships you, and your kids make over time, are priceless. They figured out the perfect combination of parent time and family time. This is a camp for both you and the kids. The morning is spent doing parent activities including tennis, archery, biking trips, canoe or kayak trips, etc. While you’re enjoying that, your kids are at camp too, with amazing counselors, making friends and going to the lake with supervised activities like swimming, tubing, banana boating, etc. After an amazing lunch, you and your family reconvene together to enjoy an afternoon of mini golf, lake fun, softball, bike rides, laying on a hammock aside Lake Champlain, etc. When it’s time for dinner, the kids go back for evening fun at camp, and you get to enjoy the company of other parents who you’ve befriended. At bedtime, the kids are exhausted and sleep like rocks until you get them up for the next days adventures. It’s a balanced family trip, where the kids actually get some autonomy that they typically don’t get at home. It’s a safe community of involved parents who all come together for a week to enjoy good, wholesome (except Thursday dance party night) fun. And this review would be incomplete without a reference to the amazing food! Seriously! It’s buffet style, fresh salads, vegetables, fruits, homemade dressings and breads, fried chicken, grilled cheese, meatball subs, lobster and steak night, trust me it’s better than you’d expect. And the deserts? Homemade pies, strawberry shortcake, locally made Vermont ice cream, homemade cookies. Remember, we call this place Heaven on Earth. Tyler Place is the best family resort and has earned that incredible accolade.
This past year, we packed up the car and headed to the airport. We pulled out, and I saw my two kids gazing out the window. As we rolled on, my 13 year old son said, “I really love this place.”
And that’s how you know.

We had a lovely stay at Tyler Place, helped by the fact that we were there with friends AND we had great weather which is always a gamble in N VT in August.

As it was our first visit and our 6 and 10 year old kids are not ambitious bike riders, we stayed in the Inn. The room was large with bunk beds, a screened porch and a full bath downstairs and a loft with a queen bed and half bath. Perfect for our family of four in terms of space and location. However, it could be a little loud in the morning and evening as people come and go from meals/drop off.

The food was amazing most of the time and fine the rest. Breakfast and dinner were consistently better than lunch. Baked goods and desserts were standouts. Always lots of options - veg, kosher, gluten free, healthy/salad or gluttonous. Only complaint was that they charge for soft drinks. Not lemonade or iced tea but soda or soda water. Seemed kind of petty. We had our kids eat breakfast with us before going to their groups. I'd say half of the guests did this and half had their kids eat breakfast at group. The kids food in group was pretty standard kid fare so we wanted our kids to have more options with us. (Note: kids are not allowed in the dining room at lunch or dinner but you can get take out containers for them or yourself.)

We loved the adult activities - from yoga to biking to tennis to cooking demos. Would have liked more tennis on the schedule and more spots for yoga. the teacher was excellent. Massages were very hard to come by as they book in advance. Same with family photo sessions with the photographer - great if you can nab a spot.

My kids liked their groups and the activities - from swimming and boating to cooking, art and gardening - but they did not like being away from us all day, every day. (They are in group from 8-1ish and 5-8ish each day.) We elected to leave property with them one of the days so we could do more together. Virtually everyone there uses the kids's groups/camp because it is included in the price (it isnt cheap) and it is generally well run. But, it does make it hard to "break rank."

Overall, i think if we had discovered it when our kids were younger, we might have done a few years there as the set up is good and the food is great.

Cons: it isnt cheap. If you arent very social, it is hard to avoid mixing/mingling. The Tylers were particularly aggressive in trying to integrate us when we were just as happy to be together or with the friends we came with.
