I schlepped to Rutland on a renovation errand and picked Roots for dinner based on Trip Advisor reviews - I appreciate the recommendation. We had the grilled Cesar, pork chops and pulled pork sandwich - all excellent with interesting (but not fussy) preparation. Good wine list and fun cocktails made with Vermont distilled labels. Come to Roots hungry so that you will have room for the house made, fresh baked Parker House rolls. Although I wasn't a fan of the blueberry pie (mostly because the name was a misnomer - it was more of a crumb cake than a true pie), it was OK and other desert choices may have been better.
It was a relief to find a decent restaurant with a fun ambiance in southern Vermont. They are, sadly, far and few between.
