Four adults and two children enjoyed the hospitality and wonderful cuisine in what could be a small ski lodge. The service impeccable. Anyone who complained about the service must have been there on an off night. The recommended wine selection was perfect. Our meals came with very nice Caeser salads. Bread was served when we were seated. The children both had fettuccine al fredo and they cleaned up their plates. We adults enjoyed our lamb, duck, veal chop and veal marsala. It is not inexpensive but it is excellent.

Great place to get Italian food on a -5F winter night. My son won the table with Gnocchi. I had veal marsala...good but not as good as the Gnocchi. Nice long bar with seating when you come in then about 15 tables in the main room. Really liked the place. Amazing though all of the people who brought kids had them watching iPads. I guess it keeps the kids quiet(it did) but....

We, a party of three, had dined at Trattoria La Festa last week which, of course, was a very busy period. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated soon thereafter. Our server took quite a while before coming over and apologized for the delay. Oh well, since we were engaged in good conversation, we felt it was not a major deal. After studying the menu, we ordered our meals. Salads came with our dinners which arrived in reasonable time. We enjoyed the salad, but ours was the only table that we saw where fresh ground pepper was not offered. Oh well, we just used the pepper shaker on the table. Usually bread is served early on as occurred at other tables, but even after getting our salads, we failed to get ours. Oh well, we flagged down another of the waitstaff who then brought it over. Next came our main courses. Two of us had veal marsala and one had pasta bolognese. Both entrees were just average. Admittedly, we have had the good fortune to be spoiled by extraordinary Italian food throughout the years. Upon finishing our meal, the table next to ours had just seated two diners. Their server provided them with the specials for the evening. Oh well, our server never bothered. When next he came over, we asked why we were never given the other options. He apologized and answered that we should return and give them another try. Don't know when or if we will revisit, but that is a meaningless consolation. Finally, most inconsequential was the fact that most of the table had their candles lit. You guessed it, not ours. Attention to detail is an important hallmark for any restaurant. All candles should ideally be lit prior to the start of dinner. At this time of year, it is dark by 5 pm. Oh well, we didn't need the extra light.

Dear Bill
Thank you for your kind words. You are right we are so different from the "nuovo" Italian, our place is a classic neighborhood restaurant serving Stowe for over 30 years.
We have served at least 3 generations of our customers and they always come back because it is real Italian home food and real hospitality that guests are cannot find much these days. Hope to see you soon and bring family and friends, we'll remember you and make you feel at home

My wife and I live in Montreal - approx. 2 1/2 hr. drive from the TRATTORIA - even though there are fine Italian restaos in Montreal - we will drive to Trattoria many times - as the food is awesome - the ambiance is exactly like home - Tony, Giancarlo & Patti - you will not meet finer restaurant people anywhere - we really feel and are treated like family.
Again - the food is great - and the desserts - well - doesn't get better than this.
Also - if you are a Sopranos fan - talk to Tony - he is one as well (and so am I)
YA GOTTA GO THERE FOR A MEAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND THE WINE LIST - AMAZING AND VERY INEXPENSIVE
