We were in Stowe recently for a car show and were looking for lunch on a glorious weekend Fall day. Unfortunately, every place we tried *in town* had huge lines and waiting lists. And this was at 2:00 pm! Our friend knew of the Flannel eatery at Topnotch, just a short ways out of town, and knew that there was outdoor dining, so off we went.

It's just a short drive out of town -- 4 miles, or about 8 minutes to be exact -- and it was WELL WORTH IT!! The restaurant, open to the public, is part of the Topnotch Resort, which is handy to Stowe but away from the busy-ness of downtown and Main Street. Plenty of parking, and for us that day, no wait at all!

The outside tables and umbrellas were welcoming, plentiful, and nicely spaced, with pretty plantings and the pool nearby. The inside dining room was lovely as well, bright with huge windows. The menu is varied, and for me as the vegetarian of the group, there were nice choices....salads, black bean hummus wrap, veggie spring rolls, soup, quiche. I thoroughly enjoyed my salad, and others enjoyed their sandwiches and burgers. Our waiter provided great service.

Simply put, we enjoyed our lunch outside on a fine Fall day, and were SO glad that we ventured just a short ways out of town to dine at the Flannel Restaurant. We live in Vermont just an hour away and will certainly seek out the Flannel again, rather than to buck the crowds!

Had lunch here on our first day in Stowe. Sat at a table overlooking the mountain range. Weather was spectacular. Food was great. Views are priceless. Fish was cooked perfectly.

You will not be disappointed. Delicious breakfast, generous portions and reasonably priced. It back, relax aznd enjoy the Beautiful mountain view as you dine. Our party of six, four adults and two children less than 10, had an outstanding server, Noelle, who made sure all of our needs were met. Very professional and atteentive to our needs. Entire staff was very friendly. Without hesitation I would highly recommend The Flannel as a must stop when you are in Stowe. A few minutes from downtown but well worth the drive!

It was incredible how many things they make from scratch - the pastas, the cinnamon raisin bread, the yogurt, ice creams! and then they garnish with herbs and greens from the garden. Really made a big difference.

We sat outside for dinner this evening and view is beautiful, but expensive meal was mostly bland and unimaginative. Service was fine. Tastiest and least expensive item we ordered were the appetizer spring rolls! Barley salad was bland -strawberries really added flavor but were very sparse. Yellow fin tuna portion was substantial but would have preferred a higher grade of fish. The bouillabaisse was absolutely devout of flavor - except for the spicey spread on the crostini served with it - a sad commentary on the dish itself.
We live in the area but had not been to the restaurant for years but likely will never return here and will not recommend to other friends/neighbors/colleagues.
