We were in Stowe for a couple of nights in early October and Harrison's was just down the street from where we were staying so we decided to give it a try. We didn't have reservations so went on the early side with the hopes of getting a couple seats at the bar which we did. What a great night! We ordered the venison flank steak and scallops with risotto and both were outstanding! Jenn, who was working the bar, was absolutely amazing! So competent and friendly. We talked with some other diners at the bar and had such a fun evening that I was glad we were at the bar. If you are in Stowe, don't miss it!
Cozy restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere, great food, excellent beer and perfect service. We had the two specials (mahi mahi and trout). They were both delicious. The Vermont beers were great and I really enjoyed the peanut butter pie. Great restaurant all around and very highly recommended.
We were seated on time for our reservation by pleasant hostess. Shared the crab cake appetizer which was excellent. Husbands steak tips were excellent, my chicken piccata was salty and had heavy lemon taste, not a standout. Ample servings of each. Tried the wine from specials list but we were not impressed. Sadly we were hoping to have a wonderful anniversary dinner but were slightly disappointed as we had been here before and loved it. Atmosphere was romantic and we were so looking forward to our dinner. We couldn't finish our meals so asked for them to be wrapped. Waiter forgot to bring them and had to ask him as we were leaving.
My husband and I dined there during the Columbus Day weekend and were treated to an interesting, fresh, top quality and memorable dinner. We both had the Venison Flank Steak preceded by a salad. My salad was Quinoa & Kale (yummy with chick peas, cucumber, Kalamata olives, red onion, tomato, and Feta cheese). My husband had a fresh garden salad. The Venison Flank Steak was cooked to perfection. We both love venison and don't get a chance to eat it very often, so this was a real treat. The raspberry pie for dessert was delicious, too. Our waitress could not have been nicer. Since we were dining early, we had very little wait for each course. The restaurant is small but nicely planned. To enter the restaurant, you descend a set of stairs. Inside the restaurant, there is a bar. Tables are on both sides of the room and some are in the middle. Our table in front of the fireplace was very comfortable - a nice place to be even though the fire was not lit (too warm). For those of you who have never been there, a reservation is a must since the restaurant is so small and the food is so good. Also, reservation times can fill quickly. We expect to go back to Stowe again next year and will certainly plan to dine here when we do.
