Not the best of experiences but not bad.
- Very casual check in. Casual can be nice but you can overdo it. (not reflected in stars being lower as it was not a rude check in)
- Hotel feels a bit worn in smells and looks.
- Only one elevator which can be very far away from room
- Room was fine but also feels worn

These last 3 are the reason for lower points

This Marriott is located a couple of blocks from the Unversity of Virginia entrance. Should make it very convenient to attend college events and the football games. Downtown Charlottesville is probably a mile walk away on an almost flat terrain. This makes it convenient to downtown too. Parking is free and located in an attached garage. The front desk is pretty friendly and helpful with directions. There is a bistro located on the lobby floor and serves good breakfast. Many restaurants and carryout places are located within a couple of blocks. The neighbourhood is very pretty safe. Rooms are decent and clean. The housekeeping does a good job. We stayed here for the weekend and it was convenient for us. There are some fine restaurants if you walk up towards downtown. There is an Amtrak station within a two blocks and it has direct service to Washington DC. Local bus service is available for reaching points within the city. Monticello, is about 20 minutes drive away. This hotel would be convenient for tourists too.

Spent one night here on a drive up north from Tennessee to Rhode Island. Had hoped to make it further, but hit a lot of traffic and this was the closest hotel with a good rate.

Check in was very smooth with a very friendly front desk staff member. Gave me the whole rundown on the hotel, even though I would only be there for one night with an early checkout to hit the road again.

Had the standard Courtyard bar/lounge/cafe type area, though it was closed when I got there and hadn't opened yet when I was leaving.

The room was fine - exactly what I would expect from a slightly older Courtyard property. Not the new designs that the brand is using, so could definitely use a refresh, but there was nothing bad about it. The only issue was with the TV - because of the weather, the reception was terrible!

Other than that - a good stay at a good price. No issues to report, but nothing stand out either.

My wife and I were in Charlottesville for a wedding and we stayed at this Courtyard. It's right off US 29. The staff was courteous and attentive. Our room was ready when we arrived. The bed and pillows were quite comfortable and the room was clean. The hotel fills up on weekends as Charlottesville has several wineries and this hotel is one of the closest ones for the guests. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel. Went to Charlotsville for a wedding. Welcoming staff, nice room, comfortable bed, good breakfast... Only thing was that we arrived mid afternoon and we had to go out to get something to eat. It would have been nice if they had the bistro open at all hours.
