Folks in Charlottesville still rave about Fleurie. The last time I went was on my birthday - my wife had arranged it. One server in the entire place. Over priced and underwhelming food.

We did the tasting menu. It was delicious, but the servings were HUGE! Friendly service and right off the main strip.

We often leave stuffed which is not often the case in a French restaurant. Located on the downtown mall on a side street in a historic building. Wonderful food

Classic French. The best cheeses outside of France. Small and intimate. Awesome!

Having been there before, we knew it was an expensive treat and we were prepared to pay for good food, good presentation, good service and relaxed setting.
Fleurie fulfills all those expections.

What got me though was the wine list. The average price of wine on the list was about $75-$100 per bottle. Nothing on the list was less than $50.

You know, French wine isn't that expensive in your local grocery store.... maybe
$10 more than a good California Red...

It is my opinion that good French wine should be consumed... but these guys are running up their bill on their patrons by expecting them to pay $75-$100 per bottle.

This is not about spending money for an expensive night on the town. We were prepared to do that. Actually, If there had been $40 French option on the menu, we might have gotten two bottles and had a much better taste left in our mouths about Fleurie.

Speaking of presentation, though, there was one faux pas.... Great attention was paid to the entrees, but the dessert chocolate cake with Blueberry sorbet was a large scoop on the side... At 1st glance resembling a small pile of dog poop... we were laughing hysterically with tears running down our faces...

It was a good laugh on them to top off the evening.
