From making the last minute (for the last table) reservations to the oyster tasting (different brine-levels, folks) to a beef carpaccio layered-with-nuanced-flavors to the lobster bites in an avocado cream to yummy shortbread with hints of lavender served with strawberry goodness--all presented by a delightfully engaging and intelligent server made for a "let's get a bite to eat" evening into a memorable gastronomic event! Go. Eat. Enjoy.

We stopped by for oysters and champagne on a hot afternoon and ended up staying for a light dinner. We didn't have a reservation for that late Friday afternoon, and we were able to grab the last two seats at the bar, which turned out to be fun as we could watch the oyster chucking action and chat with our bartender, the guy who chucked oysters, and other friendly customers who were waiting for tables.

The oysters were fresh and diverse in selections. They were about 10 kinds on the board that afternoon, and you could ask the staff for recommendations, so you could get different flavors. The staff was knowledgeable and happy to help. What is listed on the board is what is fresh for the day, for both oysters and other seafood. So, supplies can be limited. We were able to get one of the few servings of the steamer clams that day. They were fresh and full of flavors with herbs and white wine in the broth. The presentation was beautiful and thoughtful. The clams came with a glass of clam broth for us to rinse off the sand and a glass of clarified butter. The butter was not necessary since the clams were so good already without the butter.

There were lots of options for beer (drafts, bottles, local and otherwise), wine by the glass and cocktails, and many seemed to have been selected to go with seafood. We each had a glass of champagne, which was crispy, dry and refreshing, a good company to the oysters. La Rosette and French 75 were refreshing and went well with the steamer clams.

It is a small restaurant, so I would recommend making a reservation. There is outdoor seating, shared with another restaurant.

The oysters were great! Their shucker was there for only a short time, but his skills were evident. I had a half dozen briny oysters to warm up. We had the prix fixe menu for restaurant week. We both had the calamari (big surprise). I had the snapper and my wife had the lobster roll. For dessert, I had the ice cream with berries and my wife had the strawberry shortcake. The room is small and noisy. Lots of hard surfaces. There is a small patio for outdoor dining. The owner was solicitous and informative. We have pledged to return during regular service.

My hubby & I came for dinner, right at the end of happy hour. (Next time we'll plan to come for happy hour.) Drinks were good. There is one sparkling available by the glass, & the bacon burbon isn't quite as bacon-y as we would have wanted. My husband asked for a surprise cocktail from the bar & that delivered. The oysters were fantastic & the other food tasty. It was a nice time
