“"Hiwassee Hospitality"”
Reviewed 5 July 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We were a party of 10 (including 4 teenagers & 1 child) some from Summerville, SC & Cartersville, GA. to attend the 60th Quesenberry's Reunion. The cabin was beautifully furnished, very spacious, & offered a feeling of home away from home. We particularly enjoyed starting many of our days with breakfast, some sitting at the counter or outdoor on the porch taking in the brilliance mountain views.
Debbie, the owner of the cabin, was incredibly helpful & easy to work with. I received several emails from her in which she checked to make sure we were comfortable & had what we needed. FYI...The things to do in the New River Valley near the cabin that she sent via email was perfect for exploring all that New River has to offer. It was special added touch. We found ourselves using our time well (tubing, swimming, fishing, canoeing, hiking, antiquing & just taking in the natural scenery). She is incredible!
This is a lovely cabin. I know you will enjoy your stay as much as we did.
Again, Thanks you!!! Debbie for letting us stay, it was a pleasant surprise.

“Book it NOW! You won't regret it!”
Reviewed 19 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We reserved this cabin for the 2015 Virginia Tech graduation weekend and could not have asked for anything more. It was about a 45 minute trip to all of the ceremonies, but having this cabin to return for relaxing was so much better than a hotel or B&B. We invited some family members who could not find a hotel since they were all booked full, and therefore we had an even better time with family there to enjoy. We even had everyone come out for a larger party after the last celebration and everyone remarked on how wonderful this spot was.

The views are phenomenal! The cabin is comfortable. The location is remote and relaxing. While we never made it down to the water to enjoy all the goodies down there, the canoes and games will be a definite destination on a comeback visit. The beds are comfy and the fish pond is such a nice touch. The kitchen has almost every appliance you might need or bring (we didn't need half of what we packed) and they also had 3 folding tables and folding chairs should you need them. We used the tables but not the chairs.

We can't recommend this cabin enough! Be certain to follow the directions given to you by Deb, the owner....not your GPS. And follow her advice on the driveway, too. You will be so pleased with your visit and time away from the buzz of the outside world. Not having a TV in the main room allows for maximum socializing, but rest assured there are TV's in each bedroom and the basement if you absolutely need that outlet. We took advantage of the break from "civilization" and hated having to leave.

Book it now if it's available for the dates you want. You will thank me later.

“WOW!!!!!! What a view.”

Wow!!! What a view of Claytor Lake from this hillside home. We did a quick overnight so we would not have to drive back to Richmond after a Hokies game. (Blacksburg only 30 minutes away from lake). The views from the decks are killer. Dinner and morning coffee was breathtaking. If your a guy, you will love the man cave downstairs for football on the big TV and Mom is not to be forgotten. The downstairs bath a steam room. All cooking supplies( pots, pans, etc. ) are included and much appreciated. Lost Horizon is a great place for a weekend or a week, even if the Hokies are not playing. It is the perfect place for family reunion or romantic getaway. Most of all, it feels like home.

Thank you so much for enjoying Lost Horizon! You were wonderful guests. We have updated some of the kitchen gadgets for professional people like you who love to cook on vacation. Your Pigalicious BBQ and condiments are the best I've ever had! Next time you come, I'd like to place an order - so pack your cooler! Looking forward to football season - Go Hokies!

We stayed here in the fall last year and it was the most wonderful treat!!! The cabin is beautiful and well appointed. We did not want for anything except a little more time there.
We make a fire downstairs in the fireplace and enjoyed a movie, wine and lots of laughs. We took advantage of the wonderful steam shower, pampered in bubble bath in the claw foot tub, make great meals and enjoyed eating outside on the wrap around decks looking at the view of the mountains and lake. (million $$$ views) We went for hikes everyday, enjoyed a drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway and stopped at cute little shops all along the way. The lake front dock was so much fun trying to fish and soaking up the warm fall sun and the view. We intend to make this an annual girls trip from now on. Plus take my husband for a great romantic getaway too!!
