Simply looking at the exterior of this beautiful little church is inspiring. It must be by the famous architect Wren.

we were told by the Tides Inn staff that this was a free site that you could explore on our own. but when we got there and walked to the Church, we were chased down by staff who demanded that we view the information center and then insisted that we pay a $10 "donation." The church was an interesting historical site, one which you could easily view on your own, but the info center set up could be more user friendly and more accomodating

Wonderful history. Although we arrived shortly after hours, we were greeted by a kind gentleman who encouraged us to enjoy walking around the grounds and to come back during operating hours for a full tour.

Restored church with guided tours and a small interactive museum. Presents a view of early colonial life and times on the great neck of Virginia and information on the Carter Family and their extensive holdings. Must see if you are into architecture or history

I think this is the most interesting historic church I've seen in VA due to the tour and museum exhibits here. The museum is surprisingly well done and modern for a small site like this and does a good job explaining the significance of Christ Church. The tour was also very good and explained a lot about the church and the Carter family. The uniqueness of Christ Church is not really in its age, (as there are a number of older churches in VA and even the local area), but rather that there has only been minimal alterations. You really get a sense of what a colonial church was like in VA. History and architecture buffs will enjoy this site.
