We spent a long weekend at Le Clos du Buis at the end of October, treating my mother in law to a late season break, to a region she had always wanted to visit. She is also a fan of the Tour de France, and couldn't believe it when she saw the stunning view of Mt Ventoux from her bedroom window!
The hotel itself we found perfect, with reaching views across the valley, which was shrouded in mist each morning as the sun rose, and transformed into a beautiful array of colours as the day progressed. The vines are turning red at this time of year, although no lavender, sunflowers or poppy fields.
We had the rose room for my mother in law, and the bleuet room for ourselves. Both had everything we could have wished for. The rooms were comfortable, with duvets on the beds, and were tastefully decorated. They both had the same lovely view as you showered in the nice bathrooms. Also complimentary bottles of rose wine were left in the rooms - a lovely touch.
Breakfast was superb - an array of bread, cheeses, cold meats, pastries and homemade cakes - different each day. We couldn't resist trying everything. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The village of Bonnieux itself had a lot more to to offer than we expected - some places were closed as it was off season, but we enjoyed a walk up to the old church for another wonderful viewpoint, through the characterful streets. We also ate at several nice restaurants in the village - we enjoyed La Flambee the most as an all round experience (nice food, friendly staff, good ambience, best priced set menu); Cesar offered good food but VERY slow service and pricey; L'Heure Bleu had lovely service by the owner/manager and decent food.
Overall we had a wonderful weekend away. Bonnieux and this hotel were the perfect choice, my mother in law is still raving about it a few weeks later, and we would love to return at another time of year to experience the lavender fields!

Thank you very much Roundy for this long review, and what a review !

We are more happy knowing you liked your stay with us and appreciated all the amenities provided within the hotel, and the Fall season is one of the most pleasant time of year, less crowded, with gorgeous weather and colors.

Our rooms overlooking the valley people's favourites but the ones on the village gets raving comments as well, because let's face it, Bonnieux is a beautiful old perched village, with its narrow streets, boutiques, shops, restaurants on one side, and a wide open space covered with cherry orchards, vineyards, poppy and lavender fields ... every new season brings new colors and smells of breathtaking Provence.

We don't know what to say anymore but thank you again, and we wish to see you sometime during late June, early July when the lavender fields are in bloom.

Regards

This was our second stay at this hotel. It is located at the bottom of this hillside village and from some rooms there are excellent views of the valley and mountains. Rooms and baths are very clean and quite spacious. Closet space is very small. There is no elevator so it is necessary to haul luggage up and down stairs. There are TVs in the room. There are wall air conditioners in the rooms but remotes are kept by the owners and must be asked for. Owners are quite particular about when they are run and insist they be off when not in the room even if you leave for a short time. Staff insists on moving your luggage around to make it easy for them to clean.... did not like this as this should be one's home while there and one should be able to put personal items where it is convenient to use not where the cleaning staff wants them. They do serve a nice buffet breakfast in the morning. There is a courtyard in the rear and a pool which remained covered while we were there. Overall probably the best place to stay in Bonnieux.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view over the valley.

Thank you very much Kamainatraveler for posting a comment about your stay with us.
We were surprised to read that you weren't totally satisfied with the service provided, and wished you had told us directly at the very beginning of your stay; maybe were you too shy to express your discomfort; a simple note in the room would have worked too.

We would like to point that we take seriously that you didn't appreciate the efficiency of our staff in cleaning and clearing your bedroom, putting away your numerous bags on pieces of furniture provided specifically for that matter, in other words luggage rack and stool, closed bags we thought you wouldn't need during your stay. Our guests are usually more than happy to have us do it for them so they can move around their room with ease.

Regarding the matter of hauling your luggage up a flight of stairs, it isn't mentioned anywhere that we offer the services of a luggage handler, nor that the hotel has an elevator, both things you knew because you had stayed with us before. We do our best though to help guests whenever we can. Most male guests would never allow our female staff to help them and would rather be feeling embarrassed by it when they have to.

It is true that energy waste is a sensitive subject and we clearly ask our guests to turn their air conditioning off when they leave the room for the day, as well as their lights.

Last but not least, the swimming pool wasn't closed but, as a heated pool, we tend to protect it and keep it warm with an insulated pool cover. Had we known your desire to use it, we would have showed you how to uncover it by easily rolling the cover back or would have been more than happy to do it for you, hence the presence of pool towels in your room, still.

All that said, nonetheless, you also mentioned key points which we are our proud of: our location within the village and the view it offers, the cleanliness our our place, the always appreciated breakfast, the back garden with a pool.

As the saying goes, things come in threes, so we hope to see you again.

Regards

We recently stayed 4 nights at Le Clos du Buis. We stayed in the Provence room on the ground level. The owners were friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious with a variety of fruits, cheeses, yogurt, pastries, and ham. The area is beautiful and there are many galleries and restaurants within walking distance. I would highly recommend staying here!

Thank you DiCalif for your comment.
We are glad to read you liked our hotel and appreciate our hard work in pleasing and satisfying our guests, being as helpful as possible, offering a generous home cooked breakfast with assorted goods, from sweet to savoury.
The closeness of the village is an undeniably perk guests point out quite often, enabling them to go for a wander in the village and eat at one of its numerous restaurants.
We wish to meet you again someday.

Bonnieux is a perfect base for exploring the Petit Luberon. The lovely historic village has a number of good restaurants, and some interesting shops and art galleries? The Clos du Buis has friendly helpful staff, generous buffet breakfasts, clean tidy efficient rooms, a swimming pool, and an attractive garden area, and free parking onsite. It is very good value for money.

We are pleased to know that everything we offer in our hotel suited all your needs: friendly and helpful English-speaking staff, the good care they also provides in cleaning and tidying rooms daily, a good and hearty breakfast to start the day, a heated outdoor swimming pool to enjoy and a nice flowered garden to relax.
Free parking attached to the hotel is a must and allows you to stroll along the village streets and appreciate its restaurants, art galleries, miscellaneous shops ...
It was a pleasure to meet you and we hope to see again you in a near future.

We recently enjoyed a four night stay at this delightful place. The hosts are helpful and friendly. The rooms are good sized and comfortable. We had a view of the pool and countryside--just beautiful. The breakfasts were wonderful. Also, a small parking lot is attached, which was a great benefit to us. The location of the property is perfect; lots of good restaurants, little cafes and places to get food should you wish to prepare your own lunch by the pool, which is an enjoyable thing to do. You will be very happy should you choose to stay here!

Room Tip: Spend a bit more for a room overlooking the valley.

Thank you very much mdp95 for leaving a comment about your stay.
Our rooms overlooking the valley and the garden with our heated pool are very much appreciated and people's favourites but all the other rooms have their perks.
The 2 ones located on the main floor are more accessible for elderly travellers or guests with knees or hips problems and the one on the village side is perfect to welcome a party of 3. All are equipped with the same modern comfort, e.g. good firm mattresses, welcoming tray, bathtub with detachable shower head, flat screen TV ...
Breakfast is offer to satisfy both savoury and sweet palates, with homemade baking.
Being within the village limits is by far the easiest way to wander around, enjoying the local market on Friday, walking to every eateries and/or shops, art galleries and so on ... whilst having your car parked in the same spot, in other words, the hotel parking lot.
We wish to see you again in a near future.
Regards
