We went there for our group's retreat. It was very nice. The rooms were good enough, and the area around the hotel is really good! We stayed for 2 days, and the food was very good in the restaurant. Bowling was not available when we were there.

This lovely inn sits in the heart of the Black Forest in the middle of a valley. The comfortable rooms include a refrigerator, nice pillows, and a sitting area. Get a room with a balcony if you can; the window boxes are filled with geraniums and the view is serene. The hotel restaurant is excellent, with a cozy wood paneled interior and local decor, and the tables on the terrace offer a view and a breeze. The included breakfast runs the gamut from a full array of deli meats, breads, smoked salmon, yogurt and cereal, and everything you could ever want to spread on crackers or bread, from Nutella to jams. There's plenty of land for roaming, and there are excellent hiking trails in the surrounding villages.

We had a wonderful experience, except for the heat (which I won't blame on the hotel). Our room was large and very well maintained. Ditto for the bathroom. The breakfast was very good. We loved the location of the hotel, on a hill outside of town, and felt we had a very authentic German experience.

The weather was unusually hot for Germany and very few hotels in this area will have air conditioning. The hotel did provide us with a fan and we felt safe leaving the large window open at night. The evenings cooled by 11 or 12 and we slept well.

In an unusual move for us, we ate both nights in the hotel restaurant. The first night because we got in rather late and just didn't feel up to searching the village for a restaurant. And the second night because the first night was a great dining experience.

We felt the service was very good, the architecture charming, the dining outstanding, and the overall experience excellent. We would come back to the Silberkoenig, but would avoid the summer months.

Room tip: Avoid west facing rooms in the summer, they will take longer to cool down in the evening.

This may be the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I'm currently in the room and listening to a wedding party with a very loud band. Did I mention it is 2:30 am? No one can sleep in the room and workers at the hotel are unsympathetic. I live in New York City and never deal with loud music well into the night. Would not recommend

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for just 1 night. And we were both really pleased to have chosen this hotel!:) From the moment we saw it we were absolutely stunned by its fantastic wilderness view!:) The check in was smooth and quick. And service with a smile. The room was spacious enough though the view from the balcony was a downside part as it over looked most from the neigbors roof. But that didnt bother us. The bed was really soft like a cotton comfortable enough to get a goodnight sleep. The toilet was a bit compact but very clean. Breakfast was really good! I particularly loved the coffee they served! And accomodating staffs.. Nice set up for breakfast makes you feel like having breakfast in a royal century..
All in all great stay and definitely highly recommendable!:)
