Friendly staff, humble decor.

The starters were both better than the pizzas.

Aracini were delicious. Polpo (octopus) with potatoes were similarly delicious though the octopus was a little tough, but good flavor.

The pizzas were ok, but disappointing, with my DOC under-cooked and lacking flavor (especially the tomatoes). My wife’s prosciutto crudo was also under-cooked and doughy in the center.

Local red wine by the liter was good and inexpensive.

Still, it was decent enough and fairly inexpensive at €36.

We wandered the streets of Forio for quite some time looking for somewhere where we could get a coffee and a sandwich - or something similar. Even sat down In one place, only to have them tell us they had no food available.

Finally we came across La Tinaia and were surprised how big it was and how many people we inside. It must be good!

We chose to share a pizza, even after the waiter told us most people ordered one each! We also ordered a quarter litre of wine. We ended up witb a quite delicious and very satisfying lunch.

There was an extensive range of pizzas and ours was just delicious. There was also a range of daily specials advertised on boards round the seating area - some of these sounded quite delicious and risotto - in particular passing our table looked just divine. Sadly, our lunchtime appetite was not up to that job, so we were happy to share a pizza.

Service was good and the pizza was easily one of the best we have had in Italy in the last month.

Thoroughly recommended and we wouldn't hesitate to return if we found ourselves in the area.

Based on the predominantly good reviews here on Tripadvisor we decided to have dinner at this restaurant. Usually a menu that comprises dozens and dozens of different dishes raises a lot of questions as to the freshness of the food, but despite our doubts we gave it a shot. We ordered fried squid and calamari with prawns for 14 Euros as a starter. We had high expectations, but we immediately regretted our decision to dine here. Squid and calamari were dry and chewy. Same was true for the prawns. We immediately knew that the seafood that was served was frozen. Not only was the taste a disappointment, we were also outraged about the price of 14 Euros that cost only a fraction when purchased.
We had also ordered a pizza and grilled "fresh" fish with that came with a mixed salad. The pizza was average and ok. There are better places on Ischia to get a decent pizza. The fish to put it bluntly was an insult. The fillets were dry and hard as rubber. When we asked whether the fish was fresh, the only answer we received was yes, though the taste may indicated otherwise. The fish was totally overcooked. The fork could not even pierce through the fillet. A suitable comparison is that of a sole of a shoe. The mixed salad came from a plastic bag from the local supermarket. We paid 13 Euros for that.
When we told the waiter about the food his response was: SO WHAT!
Stay away from that restaurant and save the money to spend it somewhere else! The ratings here on Tripadvisor are undeserved.

Rather an inconspicuous ristorante which opens up inside in to a large open area with pizza oven and prep area on view. To the side are some other rooms with additional tables. Service was good albeit a little edgy by one of the waiters who appeared to be having a hard day. Food was good and pizzas look very nice. Risotto alle pescatore was flavoursome and loaded with a meaty assortment. The mussels were also fresh and sitting and a bed of toasted bread which made soaking up the juices a joy.

This is just the sort of local canteen that every visitor dreams about. Inexpensive, welcoming, busy. A good menu with daily specials. The wood cooked pizzas are as good as you'd expect. The main courses rely on great local ingredients, cooked with passion. Don't expect fancy schmancy decor and twee presentation. Honesty is the order of the day. Sit down, relax and loosen that belt!
