Great location with wonderful views from the rooftop terrace. I am afraid it goes a bit downhill from there. The room is adequate and cleaned quickly and efficiently, most days while we were having breakfast. If you want a hot shower in the morning then please use it before 7.30 AM, as they are cold afterwards. Breakfast is OK if a bit dull and the service depended on if the staff could be bothered or not that day. We had the half board option and the dinner\lunch menu was very limited, but the meals were only occasionally good, mostly poor as was the service. Marco, who is on reception in the mornings, is extremely helpful which is more than can be said for the chap in the afternoons who could not be more unhelpful if he tried.
Once out of the hotel then things look up as you are close to all the shops and restaurants and Forio is fantastic. You can spend hours just wandering around the seafront\marina and the shops. You can get a 24-hour bus pass (12 hours in reality) for 3.60 euros each to travel around the island. The public bus can be very busy however and a bit of a bun fight to get on. Taxi’s appear to be very expensive with a minimum charge of 12 euros and about 35 euros to travel to Ischia town the other end of the island. A trip to Ischia Ponte and Castello Aragonese is well worth the trip.
The shops and restaurants appeared to be good value for money, but I am not sure if this is because it was October and if the prices are higher during the main holiday season. The local ice cream is an absolute must.
