I was in Torre Annunizata on a beautiful March evening, after visiting the nearby archaeological sites, and we wandered in to Old House off the street and with no knowledge of the joy that awaited us inside. Massimo and his family immediately sprang into hospitable action, welcoming us into their restaurant as if welcoming us into their home (almost the same thing, actually, since it is a family-run business). I was ordering for my parents and my son (as I speak Italian), and I followed Massimo's suggestions on what we should eat. We gave him free range, for the most part, to bring us the feast he wanted to prepare, and if you go here, I strongly recommend that you do the same. Course after course of delicious, in-season, and fresh (the fish!) food kept arriving, followed by a magnificent chocolate dessert, too many bottles of wine, and culminating in Massimo and his family sitting down to join us at the table for digestifs and heart-warming conversation and connection. I hope that someday my path brings me serendipitously back to Old House and to Torre Annuniziata. You should definitely, definitely make this special restaurant a part of your plans.
