Went early evening on a Wednesday and we were the only ones there. Food was produced with great care and well presented. More expensive than some other restaurants in the area but more classy food as well. Suspect chef is professionally trained. Someone smoking in a private part of the building meant the smell of smoke wafted through a little. Overall very good.

We were slightly disappointed by this restaurant. Warm welcome but we were not offered a wine list only a glass which was expensive by local standards. Starters were variable - one excellent the other (prawn crostini) rather odd and not very enjoyable. Again main courses were one good (guineafowl) and one OK (meat brochette) but the vegetables were heavy and greasy. You can eat much better and more cheaply in this area.

I and my wife went today to this intimate restaurant which you can't definitely miss if you are the Colli Euganei region. Chef Chiara warmly welcomed us and showed the brand new and beautiful kitchen which is the cutting edge technology in the restaurant business. The place itself is pretty small but very warm and it's like to be back home. The menu is essential but varied and I am sure it can satisfy any gourmand's palate. Well done Chiara! Looking forward to come back soon and taste your masterpieces

We were given the recommendation from our Agritourismo for an evening of truffle delights at La Tavernetta. It started off on the perfect note with half portions so we could enjoy a 4 course dinner without being too stuffed. The homemade taglioni was perfectly made with just the right amount of truffles (not from Alba but from a nearby region). I had the sea bass filet next cooked en papillote which was too cooked for my liking. The next course was the beef filet with truffles and chestnut cream which came rare although I ordered it medium. I had it sent back to cook it further but to no avail, I got the same piece of rare beef with the sauce that was heated. Even when I requested for a half portion, I was still charged €38 which would have been fine if it was cooked perfectly but it wasn't.

I guess being the only guests in the restaurant that evening would have resulted in a perfect private evening by the Chef but unfortunately as the evening progressed, the quality of the food seemed to have gone from perfect to mediocre. Having paid €18 -€40 for each dish (especially in this region), we just expected a flawless dining experience. We paid half the night before at another nearby restaurant and was impressed by the dinner experience.

If you're looking for a fine dining experience, I'd recommend spending your money somewhere else to get what you pay for.

Buonasera Signora,
grazie comunque
Chiara

Fontanafredda is a tiny place in the hills. Who'd have thought such a gem was hiding here. The owner will greet you enthusiastically and her menu and food is fantastic, think Michelin star type food and this is up there with that.

The bread sticks are exceptionally tasty and moreish. The appitsers and first courses are very good, go for the Gnochi. The mains are all excellent, try the Goulash or the liver.

All in all a great night out, thanks.
